MIDI Link Sync - BETA now available
Hey guys, check out this new demo of MIDI Link Sync public beta in action:
If you want to grab the beta, send us a PM with your email, or email us at [email protected]
We'd really appreciate your feedback!

That is impressive!
Does it work with virtual midi (same device) as well?
@Crabman Yes it does. From another app you can either send MIDI to "MIDI Link Sync IN"; or from MIDI Link Sync you can choose to receive MIDI from other apps.
Thanks!
For the invite as well,i'll start testing it tomorrow and leave my feedback here.
thanks for the beta. i just tested link to midi. that worked well.
and now i´m gonna test the other way round. see what happens.
Thanks to everyone who's got in touch and been helping us test We had a great suggestion from @sonosaurus and here it is in action:
How it works:
Once you've 'enabled sync', the first time you tap, it will bring the down beat of the Link timeline into sync with your tap. If you continue to tap, it will pick up your tempo and adjust the Link timeline to your tempo, too.
So, if your Ableton Link timeline was at the right tempo already and all you wanted to do was adjust the down beat, you'd just press the 'tap' button once.
Looking forward to your thoughts once the new version drops
Whoa, yes, love that new tap feature! It'll arrive in test flight soon?
Very cool!
Another great A Link app! The tap tempo feature suggest to can have a nice live performace
Loôking good
Thanks guys!
@lukesleepwalker Yup it's just waiting for TestFlight review (usually pretty speedy in work days)
Here's a video of MIDI Link Sync in action showing some MIDI hardware, a Roland HandSonic HPD15 acting as both a MIDI master and MIDI slave to the Ableton Link timeline:
I'm using the beta, and for everyone waiting on an update for Sugarbytes Egoist, I can confirm that Egoist syncs beautifully to Midi Link Sync and Elastic Drums. Egoist also responds to the Audiobus transport controls. Great stuff CodingCod
Yes the Tap feature is really something!
it's in the appstore https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/midi-link-sync/id1071048493?mt=8
Any chance of iOS7 support?
Does link even works on iOS 7?, I think it doesn't maybe I'm wrong.
It definitely does - I have Loopy HD and iKaossilator synced on 7.1.2.
@thatsRayor I'm afraid not - we decided to move to iOS 8 minimum at the same time as the Audiobus library. We don't have any iOS 7 test devices any more. If you're curious, our oldest test device is an iPhone 4S.
Even this app, as straightforward as it is, uses the iOS 8+ way of presenting the popover controller.
No problem, and thanks for the explanation. Yet another reason to upgrade!

Thanks for the very handy app - yesterday i experimented quite a lot with the 'Tap to MIDI' feature, which works quite well.
For me (as i don't seem to be an 'that exact' tempo tapper) it would be quite helpfull to have an ability to lock the tempo and just do a readjustment of the 'Start of bar'.
After some tapping and manual adjustment of the fractional part of a tempo, the beat is in sync for quite some time. But some songs i tried on youtube don't seem to be 100% stable or use a slightly 'off' bpm - after several minutes the start of the bar (and therefore the whole beat) is drifting.
It would be cool. if there was a button/tap area to re-adjust the first beat (as i tend to get tempo glitches when tapping in the whole beat again)
@_ki Thanks for the feedback.
So, you can re-adjust the first beat without affecting the tempo. You just tap the 'tap' button once. This will just re-align the downbeat to your single tap. I think I need to make that behaviour clearer/more discoverable though
Wow, thats cool - i never tried that, always tapped four times
I am eager to test this out, but have to work several more hours...
Agreed on the last point. It works great but I found it by mistake.
