Auria Pro Lyra sample food thread

I thought it may be useful to start a thread concerning good sample sounds people have found for use with Lyra - free or commercial. I know there's a fair bit of info already here, but it's spread across a few different threads.

Here's a few of my sf2 recommendations to get started:

Rickenbacker 4001 electric bass library

Upright bass

wow, the Angel Eyes version on the upright bass is just beautiful

  • @TedBPhx

Cheers - that thread was before my time here :)

  • Have it book marked. Very useful.

  • A commercial library I bought recently. Pretty good, kind of like an M1 in some respects, but with an emphasis on keys / synths:

I've been buying some on sale commercial loop masters packs - the ones that have .SFZs

Some are good, although it can be a bit of a money trap if you look at how many you actually end up using in tracks.

It's very easy to get these SFZs into Lyra. Find the actual samples folders and put them all in one folder with the SFZ files at the root of the folder. Even though this means the paths in the SFZs are now technically wrong, Lyra figures it out. Which is clever.

Right, so I downloaded the meatbass from OP of this thread. I unzipped them. That meant I got a folder called "meatbass" with the sfz's at the root of the folder, and two other subfolders containing wav's, one named "pizz" and another named "arco".

    [meatbass]
        pizz_three.sfz
        pizz_six.sfz
        another_four.sfz
        readme.txt
        [arco]
            a4_vl4_down.wav
            a0_vl3_down.wav
            etc...
        [pizz]
            a0_vl2_rr1.wav
            a0_vl2_rr2.wav
            etc...

Right. So I drag the folder "meatbass" into my iTunes -> Apps (File sharing) -> Auria -> Auria Documents.
I try to have iTunes aim it towards the folder named "Sampler Instruments", but alas, iTunes insists on placing it next to all other folders in Auria, and after having uploaded it to my iPad I can't move the folder either. I know from experience I can delete it. So I open Auria Pro. I can't find a way of getting Lyra to import that folder.

    What am I missing?

  • @hellquist,

I use 'CopyTrans Apps' to do this:
    http://www.copytrans.net/copytransapps/

Here's a screen shot of that library in the 'Sampler Instrument's folder:

  • @hellquist, from the auria forum:
... 'Copy your SFZ and the associated samples folder to AudioShare

    1. In AudioShare, create a new folder. Call it Sampler Instruments

    2. Go inside the Sampler Instruments folder and create another new folder called Bass (or some other category name)

    3. Go back to the main list of files. Find your SFZ file, and tap on it for a few seconds until you see the menu. Select Move, and move it into your new "Bass" folder

    4. Do the same thing to the SFZ samples folder (move it to the Bass folder).

    5. Now long tap on the Sampler Instruments folder and choose Make Zip File

    6. Then it's finished, tap on the new zip file (cancel the dialog that comes up asking if you want to open it). Then tap on the Send icon (the icon on the right with the box and arrow pointing out). Choose Auria.'

I think, Rim mentioned that in a thread here on the audiobus forum somewhere.

    Excellent, thanks. :)

  • Just tried to add a Drum Kit Designer Kit to Lyra. Didn't work. Lyra see the kit, but it doesn't map/load it correctly.

  • Unfortunately this free exs doesn't work as well: https://www.analoguedrums.com/details-bm.php

Lyra sees it, but this time no sound is generated by any pad or key.

  • Rather than repeat a long post here I've posted elsewhere, or start another one under the Audiobus forums, when, really what I would post is not an AB-related thread and we've had quite a lot of non-AB threads recently in the AB forum   - (all good mind !), I'll just mention here instead that I've been playing with the SSO soundfonts some and they work nicely inside Auria Pro. No problem with the import and no problem in use. If you want to check out the details of what I've been doing with it, go to my MusicInclusive FB page and look for the post near the top (Jan 24th) about Auria Pro and Mozart  , where I explain a little how I've been using the SSO samples.

  • Splice.com is going ios soon...Its a membership fee bit its the best bet

Curious as to how does this relate to this thread ?

    EDIT: presumably this link ?

  • Very useful, thanks
