Bluetooth MIDI-keys: Is there anybody out there ?
While bluetooth audio suffers from latency issues, for obvious bandwith related reasons, it's a bit of a mystery to me, why there does not appear to be any MIDI keyboards available at the moment. Yes I know about the Seaboard Rise, but apart from it beeing a "tad" pricey, it is not excactly a conventional keyboard for everyone.
I'm also aware of the upcoming Korg microKey Air line-up, which is very interesting, but apart from these, there does not seem to be a lot going on.
Why is this ?
Apart from the obvisous advantage of beeing cordless, a BT keyboard would free the lightning port for charging the iDevice. And I can't se any bandwith issues with MIDI.
Will BT keys work "out of the box", or does it need special attention from devs to work ?
Comments
I'm perplexed by this, as well. There must be either engineering or production challenges that we are unaware of. I'm curious why there aren't more BT foot controller options, too. (There's another thread on the positive grid product that isn't too glowing in its appraisal.)
In addition to the Korg models, these are about to drop as well:

I'm also really looking forward to the cme air key.
There's going to be one in 25 and 37 keys:

They wanted to be ready with it end of last year, there were some manufacturing problems,
but I hope it won't take much longer.
The Miselu C.24 works quite well for midi over BTLE. Low latency, but needs a receiver app to decode the midi from the BT.
Thank you for reminding me of this one, @funjunkie27 .
Have you had any compatibility issues with it ?
No...it's been pretty solid for me. The smaller keys take some getting used to though.
CME is going to make a usb dongle to provide BTLE blue tooth 4.0??
If that's what this is then it could be really cool! Espically if you could set it up with older iPads such as iPad 1 and iPad 2!

Too narrow for my fat, clumsy fingers. I might as well be playing with cucumbers.
