Sugarbytes Cyclop gets LINK

Loopy does not seem to pick up bpm from Cyclop, but Fugue and Elastic do. Very nice!

  • It's a good sign!

  • Yay. Great news.

  • F*ck yeah!

    Double Yay...

So much of the good stuff of Cyclop relies on it's tempo sync effects - this is very good news. Link it up with Gadget (perhaps) (and maybe ED or Patterning) and have a lot of crazy fun.

  • This is great news. Hope many other synths follow.

  • Well it's a good sign for all the other sugar bytes stuff at least. Which is awesome...

  • Egoist would be very nice with link

  • The wife and I are thinking of getting a guitar each. I'm thinking of strapping a iPod to mine so I can control Link and other appyness :)

  • +1 and again for Egoist

  • I'm betting Egoist could be next.

  • Egoist and WOW with link please :)

  • I want Looperator to be next.

  • So, I'm clueless with cyclop and link. What exactly can I do with others apps now that cyclop has link?

    Thanks

  • cyclop's effects speed will be synched to the speed of your LINK session

  • Cyclop sequenced by fugue machine (which has link too) is a very gratifying experience

Ooooh. Han't even thought about that....

  • No need for it, but tempted to get it just because of link. Everything is better with Link

Wait for a sale, but Cyclob is really impressive in it's array of bizarre ways to make original fat sounds. Sound shaping with this thing for a little while now, and I can honestly say that this beast is so thick with possibility it is my favorite. Love importing sounds and voices for sound shaping. Leaving Fugue on in the background and doing deep programming is pretty fun.

On the annoying side, finding my favorite sounds takes too many steps, and they open slow. Everything is tiny, and sometimes it takes more than a few touches to open or tweak something. And it sure is full of presets that sound like screaming metal beasts and when I browse through them I must brace for an ear assault...

But that bass is so thick and rich. I like it better than anything, hardware or software.

that sounds interesting, but can you explain a bit? Fugue machine's strength being the four part harmonies, yet Cyclop a mono synth? so far that combo did not work too well for me but I'd be interested hearing what you do with it.

  • @FlightManual I actually find their preset rating / sorting / filtering system among the best I ' ve seen. Once you've rated your favorites it is quick to get there

For now, fugue machine is the only piano roll sequencer with midi out that has link, so when cyclop got updated, first, I used one playhead to sequence it has an experiment, fond and tweaked a good preset, then adding the other playheads ( setup on shorter times, different octaves, delay in the start...) and playing with the slider I could get interesting variations that I played live (and I got really happy with it)

Cyclop picks up all the attacks except that when two notes are played simultaneously it will play the lower one (it seems)

Ah, thanks, cool, yes that could be fun. I think last I tried Cyclop wasn't picking up any midi from Fugue at all, but now I tried again and adjusting midi setting, it works and creates really interesting results.
