Animoog's changed delay module time rate behaviour

It used to make nice analog style time tweaky sounds, now it just makes an ugly digital glitch sound as I turn the rate knob. I'm afraid it's not a bug.
Didn't see anything in the update notes, I think it was the most recent one, if I knew I wouldn't update. I loved making crazy pitch changing sounds with that delay, now it just feels less alive.

  • That's gotta be a bug. I just tried the delay with the new version and it sounds like shit when I adjust the time.

  • cant check it, yet,...will try it tonight. seems like a bug...

Try to contact the Animoog Team cause of the Orbital Times, i send a contact form, no response...NP, but:

maybe they read it here, @GeertBevin wanna Adress a changing in the Orbital Time....

If you are in sync minimal length are 8Bar, without sync you could bring the orbital to 0hz (still).
A minimal synced Bar of 64Bars would be awesome and very usefull! Even the Orbital itself, if you could quantized "magnetic" snapping to the grid would help the way you could design the sound....last but not least use real Vectors for angle (degrees), to use the Path with ovals or circles...wow a dream!

  • The reason I'm afraid it's not a bug is that some people don't find it practical when changing from a preset with some delay feedback to another one with a different time setting. I saw people complaining about this in Animoog and/or Thor. I hope I'm wrong and it's just a bug. I'm always disappointed when I buy a great synth app and it has one of those glitchy delays - not as much fun to be had.

Please comment if you're reading this @GeertBevin

  • Hmm, I replied, but my comment is still awaiting approval.

It is a bug and we're really sorry about it. We've fixed it and have submitted a new version to Apple. If this is preventing you from using Animoog, please send me a private message with your email address, I'll send you a pre-release.

  • Thanks @GeertBevin

So glad to read this. I really thought it was a decision you made. I always assume the worst.

It was a regrettable side-effect of being more adaptive to sample rate changes, it prevented the delay time from being continuously updated.

You're doing a great job, I can't make Animoog crash anymore even if I'm really trying.

  • @firejan82 thanks! We've come a long way this year, it's great to be back on the stable path.

  • Thanks @GeertBevin . I agree Animoog has been massively improved recently.

Any plans to implement LINK? Would be really nice.

  • @Matt_Fletcher_2000 we've started looking at it, but it's less trivial than we anticipated. We'll have to schedule a decent chunk of time to get it right, which we don't have in the immediate future. It's on the list of possible improvements though.

  • Impressing responsiveness. Kudos.

  • What are relief! I love that Animoog delay. It's magic.

  • Well done for the quick work and continued greatness of Animoog :)

  • Thats great to here, @GeertBevin is the Orbit Rate maybe on the List or in discussion, it would be awesome to have a lower sync Rate here....maybe you could comment that, if not, :-) Peace!

    Plus one :)

And also plus one for LINK if you ever get to it.

  • @obiwahnkentobi I can't promise you, put I'll enter your suggestion into the list of things to consider. It will not be trivial since all existing presets need to be interpreted differently, so we need to create a new preset format just for that additional lower rate.

  • Great work @GeertBevin!
Nice to see the quick replies and actions.

    Sphenopalatine ganglioneuralgia!

  • Love Animoog, Question Geert why are all of the presets volume set to 10 by default?

  • FYI, Apple granted us an expedited review, the fix is now available as an update through the App Store.

  • Awesome! So good to have it back. Playing with it now. It's alive.

Not found that to be so on all presets. Many, but not all.

    Cool :)

    Thanks for continued support.

Any chance of some new preset packs? Love making my own, but love the odd new presets now and again to refire the creative juices.

  • @Fruitbat1919

If you don't have the preset packs from NK and JLewis, I would recommend those. Then there's the Detroit Movement set. All free. Not sure where I got them though. Probably the animoog forum.

Thanks I will hunt these out :)

    http://animoog.org/database/expansion-packs/

Found this. But don't see NK which is my favourite and don't even remember what it stands for.

Just found the same lol. Been trying with a few, but most so far want me to use iTunes and my laptop is sick :(

  • @Fruitbat1919 we have some planned but not in the immediate future, sorry, can't really say more

This is enough to know now thats in the right hand, thank you @GeertBevin !

That's cool, I will get back to playing it. Animoog really is more than just an app, it's an instrument :)

  • This is little 'Off-Topic' but there is one feature that i really do miss in Animoog.

I wish it would remember the patch that was last used/edited when launching the app.
