If only they had put a slot in it to allow this

Yeah but in this case it would be too iPad specific.I'm using this one and this solution is good enough for my taste ;)

:( This one wouldn't work for me as the base of the stand looks too narrow for lap usage

I think I will get one of these. Standalone gadget workstation. I really like the immediacy of gadget and with the kaoss pad and chord set pads this will make gadget even more immediate to jam on. Now because of Link, the iPad can be locked in perfect sync with ableton on my laptop, and Modstep on my old iPad controlling my hardware. The less time I am setting up and fiddling with midi mapping the better. With this I can sit down after work and just make a beat, if I want to expand on the idea, open Modstep and run my sp404 and volcas in perfect sync. When it comes time to record, open ableton and again locked in perfect sync. My sound card has 16 inputs to record all audio at once. I can also export the set from gadget to ableton for finer control over the tracks. I can just scale up the complexity as needed or wanted. Ableton hit a home run with Link. My favourite development in music hardware/software in years.

Once I have a track laid out, substitute midi gadget tracks with Reason RE or VST then mangle the whole thing with FXpabsions Geist (2.0 coming soon) and twisted tools S-layer and ultraloop.

    It's all coming together :dizzy:

I have to agree, Link and ModStep have certainly made the integration and scalability a whole lot easier and workable

    Nice set up.

I've also considered taking all the midi out of Gadget and replacing with other synth apps - but by the time I'm finished in Gadget with all the nice automation and patch design I find I'm more than happy with the sounds my gadgets are making.

    Niiiice...

I'll probably wait for these to come down in price or resist entirely, though... I have bunch of controllers at home I very rarely use.

yep,me too.Currently sitting on a Nanokey2,an Oxygen8 (but the vintage super rare NI edition :) ) and an MPK Mini that i bought one week before the Korg announcement, lol.
I'm gonna sell all of them and the price for the new Nano will be much more reasonable to me.

    Korg MicroKey controller
    Korg NanoPad 2
    Beatstep
Small M-Audio 37 key midi keyboard

About £200 worth. But I don't really use them enough since I'm mostly out and about or on the sofa to lazy too set anything up.

    Snap !

    Akai LPK25
    NanoPad 1 and 2
    BeatStep
    NanoKontrol 2
    Novation Remote 25
Alesis Trigger IO (connected to modified Rockband drumkit) - works really well but a PITA to plug in
    Rockband MIDI Guitar (Plastic one)
    MS-20c (usb controller)

Only really use the LPK and MS-20c occasionally, others I hardly touch at all, same thing, can't be arsed moving my laptop table 2 feet to in front of my chair. :|

That's true of course.I'm helping myself with a book on my knees or placing the ipad/keyboard next to me on the sofa :)

I would want a black leather bound wooden tray with Gold Leaf edging, and holes for my pint on one side, and my jack daniels glass on the other !
The MkII would have a self levitating feature for when I need to get up and go to the loo
    :D

  • I feel like buying both of these new nano.
I never thought i'd be interested again in midi controllers.

I've been mulling this over now for the last 24 hours, get launchpad MKII for birthday or save money and buy one or both of these when they come out.
    And my decision is
    Yes, no, yes, yes, no,yes,no,no
    :D

I still have 2 weeks to make my decision

Instead of learning the individual scales, you could concentrate on learning how scales and chord progressions work in general. That is one of the appealing things about this and its scales mode. It is not cheating, it is just concentrating your learning on the most useful and widely applicable knowledge :)

yes that would save me a lot of time in ChordPolyPad too, thanks.

And yeah I guess "cheating" would eventually just be "memorization" but i must always take a dim view of my choices, so...

Looks cool but wish it had aftertouch. My Taktile doesn't have it either.

All scales should have names like in Seline Redux. They have Airy and Cool, Deep and Daring :)

Meh.. I have pretty much all the full versions of those iPad/iOS apps. And the plugins and synths aren't really enough to entice a controller product purchase. The quality of the hardware produce itself is what would determine a purchase in my case.

Wow, that Nanokey Studio looks like the perfect Gadget controller! Sweetwater tells me they will have them in stock next week?! Don't have to wait until April/May. What have you guys heard on availability?

I received a call from Sweetwater this morning. They are now estimating that the Nanokey Studio won't be in stock until mid-March.
