Cream Mobile 50% off
I just noticed Cream mobile is on sale for half of the previous price. I was on the fence but I'm now tempted to give it a go.
Comments
Wow. Didn't take long.
o man, I jumped on it and after messing with it for a bit I'm afraid I will never be able to understand it. Looks so intricate and incomprehensible. Hope I'm wrong
Agreed. It is a little complex.
I have the desktop CM version specifically to try and figure it out before stuffing my iPad even further.
I get it. I do. But I can't get it to do "me" yet. Thesys is fiddly as hell, but at least I can see everything that's going on all at once.
Ah, who am I kidding. I'll be able to get some sort of "crackles or farts" out of this that will fit in a song somewhere. iTunes here I come.
Agreed again. Thesys is overwhelming. The VST is still complicated, that's why I use Virsyn Apreggist.
It's $5,99 from $9,99. IAP is not on sale (like KORG does).
I noticed there was a lot of talk about Cream in the build up to the launch, but then things went quite quiet about it. All that anticipation seemed to be converted into a feeling of "What the...."
Agreed. I was on the fence but, you know, you watch the demos and "wow, this is..." and few minutes later I'm thinking "wow, I need a lot of time to understand what I'm going to do".
Despite that, the sale price is still very tempting to give it a try.
Just when I thought I had my addiction under control. Whamo!
I'm using it, think I have a handle on it now. It's not so complicated when you experiment your way through the settings methodically. ( There's lots of presets to dissect too ). I can make some quite cool patterns now. I like feeding it from Fugue machine and sending the output over the network to the microbrute.
I have no other point of reference, but it's certainly more powerful than the arps that come with my desktop DAWs.
That said I just got the CM version of Nora on the desktop and that looks like it might be worth a peek.
Oh, thanks Mr @JiggyWig, I just needed a little push like that.
It is one of the apps on my waiting list depending on how much drum Perfect Pro costs. I was waiting for cream to come out but the lack of videos and less than stellar reporting here on it's usefulness has helped me hold on to my cash. The sale has almost got me to go for it , but as soon as I do DPPro will drop from the sky. You can almost bet on it. Still I am a bit bored this weekend so I may just give in.

I strongly urge waverers to buy this app .
As a longterm betatester I'm biased , but my involvement was based on wanting this amazing hybrid 4 part arpeggiator on a touchscreen for IOS .
There is a learning curve , as there are many ways of using Cream , covering StepPolyArp , Thesys, BStep Sequencer functionalities, but having 4 Tracks makes the learning worthwhile as different techniques can be used simultaneously .
I've reposted an amateur attempt at demo , hopefully you can see past the cheesy tune to appreciate what the sequencer engine is capable of . Additional notes on YouTube.
(I'm still looking into making tutorials but make no promises, still researching equipment & knowledge )
I often feel like the Village Idiot hereabouts (comparatively ) and have bought a number of apps that folks here enjoy and I have never got my few dollars worth out of (completely down to me, no doubt), but much as I am still deeply confused with Cream (yes! videos! please!), having got through the first ten minutes I am making noise with this thing that is different/better/less generic than anywhere else. Long way still to go, but I'm encouraged by that as an opportunity rather than feeling beaten into submission by the complexity which is so more often the case. Long way of saying I'm pleased I bought it, even at full price etc.
I'm so tempted to dive in, but still haven't got to work on TCdata, Egoist, Thesys and Gestrument yet. I really should decline, but it's a sale
Ok I did it and I love it! Not too complicated, just a minor head scratcher! Now the Sugar Bytes gear is hard but oh so worth it!
good to know. There are great free tutorials online for sugar bytes products though and that makes a big difference...
I see an in app purchase to enable all tracks...does that mean it is not 4 tracks unless you pay more?
That's right, only 1 track by default. IAP required to unlock the others. Strange marketing choice if you ask me. For me at least, the multi-tracks was pretty much the primary interesting feature. Ho hum.
sale already over, strange
i was thinking to buy it, yesterday.. but was not sure coz if that strange complexity.
Drum Perfect Pro is on sale, I think I will get that instead and perhaps a few of the style/kit packs as well.
Maybe by the time Kirnu is on sale again there will be tutorials available.
Short-lived, ended just as I was convinced to buy.
Maybe next time. Maybe not.
I don't speak for the dev , & knew nothing about the sale .
But knowing how hard Arto worked over the nine months of betatesting , ( & I don't know how many months on the alpha ) , it's a little depressing to see how $4 might sway people's decisions.
As a long term IOS sale hunter I understand the disappointment of missing a sale ,
my complaint here and with other devs would be that they should STATE THE DEADLINE so prospective buyers know how long they've got to decide .
I'm not gonna repeat my hyperbole on all the features why Cream is worth the full price , but rather point out that both StepPolyArp & Thesys are currently more expensive & BStep sequencer the same price , comparing single track to single apps ,& 3x more tracks for only half the price again is surely still a bargain.
It's never how much, but always what value?
Yes, probably i wouldnt able to use it
Yes, I buy a lot of apps on "charity", e.g. i complete my aufx bundles, etc. I know developers aren't rich.
But an app has to at least feel accessible. Cream doesn't feel accessible.
Lowering the price makes it seem easier to buy without knowing how whether or not it will make it into my workflow.
Fair comment and it will still be there as and when you decide to take a punt etc.
Weird sale, agreed, but I'm glad I went ahead and hopped on. This app has really grown on me. Very powerful. It's kind of like the DrumPerfect of arp apps. Turns out I didn't have the time to make DP for me, but I can eff with arps all day long. Eventually something great will come out.
i still had no time to fully explore StepPolyArp
