ICM4+ Info/Help

edited January 2016 in General App Discussion

Could use a little info from someone familiar with the IConnectivity ICM4+.

I currently have a live setup that requires 5 iOS devices - 3 iPads and 2 iPod touches (6th gen). I'm currently using an ICA4+ for 2 of the iPads. The other iOS devices have been midi only, and have been connected/charged using a variety of other cables, connectors, etc. I'm wondering if I should just get an ICM4+ to the setup to simplify some things.

I want to validate whether the 3 ICM4+ USB ports can be used to connect and charge my 3rd iPad and the 2 iPod touches. My understanding is that the ICM4 has a single 2.1a port (for the iPad), and dual 1.0a ports (for the iPods). With all of these ports connected, I'd still need to connect MIDI between the ICA4 and the ICM4, and I believe my only option is to run midi DINs between them.

This would streamline some connections for me if all of this sounds correct. Can anyone confirm that the iPods would stay charged under this setup?

  • There are 2 ports for iPad/iPod on the front, and as you said one will charge iPad only. The other will keep iPad from draining so fast, but will charge iPad/iPod. The port on the rear is for computer Mac/Windows. It will not charge. I'm not even sure if a iPad/iPod would work with that connection. There is a midi host port that will allow up to 8 midi devices with a powered hub. Hope this helps some. The guy to get more info from is Derek Jones. He's on this forum and has some YouTube videos.under Musicinclusive.

  • @mgmg4871 Ah - that's correct - it doesn't look like the USB jack on the back charges. Might be a deal breaker. Thx.
