Not to hijack my own thread but this is somewhat related and might be of interest to the looping folk. Of course it comes without saying that this man is a bit of a genius.
Ah yeah, and Good Morning South and North America!
@supadom, good show, looks like loads of fun. though, I must say my favorite posts of yours are the ones that are pure one-man-band with even more iOS tricks
and that beardyman stuff is absolutely nuts. He doesn't even use MIDI, some obscure protocol that works better over wifi? on four iPads???! and the casual reference to 10,000 hours, definitely reached expert level.
I went on to watch his BBC radio show on YouTube and loved the way its clear he starts every song with a very simple loop to set the beat, four beat hi-hat, or simple drum loop, then goes from there.
anyone know what kind of headset mic he uses? seriously inspiring live looping there.
I know what you mean @Hmtx i find the IOS sound gets lost on stage. I'll need to work on the dynamics with the drummer who is a self-proclaimed rock drummer but I think aspires to be more intricate. Of course it is not all his fault. I have a tendency to think that the audience want straight songs and get bored with fancy sound stuff, especially done by a guy swiping up and down on his iPad but I'm probably wrong.
I've been thinking of changing direction and use impaktor more, non less to motivate the developer to bring us version 2 of that amazing app. I'm also due for a jam with a percussionist (cajon, ceramic kalimbas etc) which should give more breath to the sound but who knows. I've been doing lots of programming on the impaktor and getting better at taming the beast. Watch this space.
@supadom Another cool video.
Very interested in hearing your Impaktor material.

OSC I'm guessing. A lot of performers use it. Way more flexible than midi, easier to code and works over networks.
^ actually nope. It was some other standard. not even OSC was good enough for him :-0
Enjoyed that. There are always mix issues with live drums, right? Can't replace that vibe they bring, though... Too bad some of the stuff you were doing got lost in the mix, though.
