Ampkit IAP bundle sale
All bundles $5 until Monday. According to a FaceBook post from them. If you're interested and don't already have everything this can save a bunch.

Looks like it says $5 off bundles.
Yeah, read that wrong, sorry. There have been better sales. Probably will be again.
I was excited, but that's still too much money.
Just bumping this because I'd like to know what you guys think. Will there be another iap sale like this anytime soon? I don't have any of the iap yet and I think I will need to buy a lot of stuff both for guitar and bass, so a sale would be extremely welcome. It seems like it has been a long time since the last one. Also I wish there was a bundle that includes everything and or one that really has the essentials such as: 3 main guitar amp & cabs, 3 bass amps, wah, chorus, delay, eq, reverb, univibe, phaser, ring mod, octaver. I'm really having trouble figuring out how to get what I need without buying all bundles and some additional pedals. I really don't have that much money to spend...
IAP Sales don't happen that often in any all really but if I were you I'd get the bundle (or two) that best fits my needs than snag the one or two extra things need by themselves
For the last two Ampkit has had 1/2 off sales for the 12 days of Christmas.
Alright, so I guess I'll just have to calculate what is the best way to get what I need. Too bad the bundles are overlapping quite a bit. But I think I will not get the full upgrade but maybe get the FX bundle and the bass bundle and maybe some individual things.
Given those prices and compared to Jamup Pro, you might want to take a look at Jamup. It has higher ratings and the add on prices are not as scary. I have it and it sounds every bit as good as it is rated.
I bought the Effector Pack for $10 when I first bought Ampkit. Then I just bought a couple of amps that I liked. I switch effects in and out of the effects chain a lot more than I change amps. A year later, now I have more amps but that was the strategy I used when I started out.
I have a similar dilemma. I got bias for iphone for my ipad for pennies but it doesn't really satisfy me due to really low output levels and clip ceiling. I love amp kit out of the box but they don't really give you much in the free version. I'll probably end up getting one of the bundles too, just not sure which one. The effects bundle seems pretty comprehensive.
Okay, thanks. My "strategy" started out similarly. First I got FX bundle, then bass, then vintage and then I added a bunch of things that weren't in those bundles. Spent a lot...
Just got effector and tonemime bass. Very happy so far even though haven't tried the bass thingy yet. Bias may have a lot more fancy settings but I personally find ampkits sound quality superior, at least for clean sounds. It can get very funky with octaver, auto wah and bass tonemime. Veeery cool sounds. And of course those vintage deep trems. Yo
Bumping this thread (on Friday, July 11, 2014) because I noticed on dischord that AmpKit+ is running an IAP sale. Oh, and they updated with IAA functionality and some other small fixes:
http://discchord.com/blog/2014/7/11/ampkit-update-iap-sale.html
The article claims the IAP's are 60% (which would be nice), and they are running a ToneStack-inspired $50 bundle for all content. Sadly, I had temporarily deleted AmpKit from my devices to clear storage for ToneStack and others, but it's not a bad guitar modeling app by any means.
I will give it another look this weekend and maybe grab a bass amp or something, but I just prefer some of the other options nowadays.
Dunno, when I tried Ampkit I really didn't like it, but maybe I should give it another chance.
@Supadom (or anyone else for that matter), do you have a sample of the clean sounds that impressed you?
I suspect we'll be seeing more sales in guitar amp/effect apps, Yonac has really put the cat among the pigeons with ToneStack and ratcheted up the competition, which had just started to calm down after BIAS.
TBH, I think I will stick with Tonestack, BIAS/Jamup and Flying Haggis for now, even though I have a few IAPs in Ampkit and Amplitube.
I think the choice of the guitar app is very personal and it doesn't limit itself to just the sound of the amp/cab emulation but also the effects. Thinking of my choice It definitely was additionally informed by the possibility of getting the bass sound I wanted. The good thing is that there's a lot of freemium apps around so one doesn't have to dive in completely blindly. I've just recorded this little quick comparison thing but please don't take it as a lab test because I've never used these set ups in studio. In fact it is all quickly dialed using a pair of shitty cans with loads of bass but not much treble so there may be excess treble in places as I probably overdialed it.
In order if appearance: ampkit octaver, bass mime, ampkit clean, flying haggis clean, fender performer clean recorded via a cheap condenser mic. (The latter has more bass on it, sorry, these were my live settings.

True. If these were apps < 50mb in size, don't get me wrong, I would keep all of them for a rainy day. Tone is subjective, so it isn't for me or anyone else to tell you to like AmpKit better or worse than another amp. But if AmpKit isn't being used, it's tough to swallow 200MB of dead space on my crowded devices.
But the problems I have with both AmpKit and AmpliTube (I have much less experience with the latter) have to do with controlling the output in ways that make them useful for recording. AmpKit runs hot, and the settings (IMO) don't seem to correspond to real-life amp settings. (Actually, this is one thing I really like about ToneStack - it makes it feasible to dial in "cranked" amp settings without throwing out ridiculous amounts of output). AmpliTube was exactly the opposite to me - it sounded quiet and non-dynamic. I'm sure both can make great music in capable hands, they just didn't work for me.
@Supadom: thanks for the sample, much appreciated.
@StormJH1
Exactly. I'm running a 16Gb iPad4, so storage space is tight. They're all quality products but taste, and music preference come into it as well of course, and one has to make a choice at some point.
It's been some time since I had Ampkit and Amplitube loaded, but your assessment seems about right from what I can remember, plus I also didn't like the Ampkit interface.

No problem. By the way I'm playing a battered encore which probably doesn't help.
Just re-installed it - this sale is a joke if you are a person who already installed the app and bought some IAP's. None of the individual items are on sale. The only sale is if you buy the full bundle. But this app came out 3 or 4 years ago - there's no way I'm paying $29.99 to unlock "all amps" when I already own about 70% (same for the pedals). $5.99 for each additional app is the worst deal out of all the guitar apps. They used to run sales where amps would randomly drop to $0.99 each - not anymore.
Everyone's taste is different, but I think the Peavey ValveKing amp that comes with the stock program is the best sounding amp. No need for me to buy any additional IAP or pedals, from the samples I've heard:
Note: not me playing but marvelously demonstrates the possibilities of this rig; using Peavey ValveKing lead channel w/ 4x12 cab and off-axis 57 mic.
Yep, valve king is alright, don't know what the others are like but this sounds decent enough to my ears.
I have a number of the amps, most are excellent but that Peavey ValveKing is just the best! Use with the Rat, or Tubescreamer.
There's nothing like a bit of shredding early in the morning! @Coloobar
