does modstep have a metronome ?

I feel like and idiot? I'm sure it is there, but can somebody point me to the metronome ?

  • It's an overwhelming interface! Tap the (tempo) number next to the recording button. In the pop up, tap 'Trigger Sound'

it is a little confusing at first.
I have another question for you
do you know how to trigger notes lower than c3 when in the drum mode?

    Select the relevant track,
go to templates screen, (4th icon at top of screen)
    select Pads button
Select the Pad you want to use
    then change the Relative Octave

Andy, do you know how I can import external samples into the sampler in modstep? Is there a copy and paste option, or a audioshare option to get samples in?

  • There is audioshare (in the main file browser window) but cannot say if it works as I do not use audioshare,
I guess the steps would be (and I am guessing here)
    Open main file browser
    select audio share
    import your sample
    select sample within ModStep
    Select Copy to sampler

I have successfully imported samples using itunes file sharing and they appear in the imported folder within the sampler.

Other options like DropBox are in the pipeline I believe

  • yeah, I used audioshare to record and export. but I didn't see an area to import samples from audioshare. guess I need to do a little more digging.

I don't know if import is there for sure, just guessing.

  • Had been searching for a metronome too, thanks for the info!

I am wondering if anybody has been able to setup modstep using multiple IAA synths and have it so that only an armed track will listen to midi coming from a controller keyboard? Similar to how ableton behaves with its midi input.

here is what the developer said
"Not a real metronome yet, but if you tap on the tempo-label press 'Trigger Sound' - it will tick in 1/8ths"

  • I noticed the trigger sound didn't work as expected. I think using a link enabled app that has its own metronome would work better
