Good Apps For Experimenting with Chord Progressions
Looking for a good app (iPhone & iPad preferably) for experimenting/noodling with chord progressions (especially with simple modulations). MIDI out/export a plus, but probably not a deal breaker.
I see a lot of apps when I search the store and I have no idea what to take a crack at.
TIA for any suggestions!
(Sorry if this topic has been covered recently, my search-fu here was weak)

ChordPolyPad
ChordPolyPad is good, SoundPrism is also very good for that, as well as EasyChords, Navichord, and Firo. The SessionBand apps are also useful for this kind of thing, as well as Tin Pan Rhythm.
Firo and SoundPrism are my most used in that list. ChordPolyPad is the most flexible though because you can build anything you like in it.
Have a look at SoundPrism Pro on YouTube. You might also check out Chordbot.
Chordbot... https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/chordbot/id394754767?mt=8
Has a free version you can check out too. https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/chordbot-lite/id400216689?mt=8
GuitarCapo+ might be an option. I should have made a new demo for the latest version, but there is demos to find on my YouTube channel @ https://www.youtube.com/user/tonappas/videos. More info and reviews to find on http://www.tonapp.no
Cheers!
I like Suggester a lot: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/suggester-chord-progression/id504740787?mt=8
Yamaha Synthbook -- FREE.
SessionBand
Yep... me too.
I've also tried and like the new chord mode in iMacshine - the only problem being that once you're happy you have to work out by eye (looking at the keyboard) what exact chords are playing.
Here are my favourites
Mapping Tonal Harmony Pro
Klimper
Pro Chords 2
Chordbot
Chordion worth checking out too. Chordion 2 is also currently being developed...
Well shoot, it looks like my ideal app is Chordbot smooshed together with Suggester. Suggester for the in depth chord exploration, and chordbot for the nice auto arranged playback...
^Agree^
Chordbot
Tonal Harmony Pro
Klimper
+1 for chordbot.I use it for most songs at the start. The "song-o-mattic" button is useful for giving you interesting progressions/starting blocks.
I love ChordPolyPad just for the playing. Slinky and delicious especially with the right Module....
Navichord is also cool, especially when feeling too generic and wanting a little 'feel' or inspiration....
oooo chordion 2? when is that going to be released? that sounds great
Chordbot - great for progressions with accompaniment
Autochord - super simple common chord progressions
Chordassist - like suggester
Prochords - like suggester but with chord progression recording and playback (getting them out is a pain)
Suggester - layout your cords in progression (w tempo and arpeggiation)
SoundPrism Pro - great for live play banging out chords
ChordPadPoly - like SoundPrism Pro with a Shit ton of other features. The random chord feature is cool!
ChordMapMidi - has a lot of fexibility. based on Roman Numeral, shows position of notes on a piano
Pad Only
Total Harmony Pro - King of them all. Not as straight forward.
Klimper - try out chords put them in a sequence change their voicing (inversions)

Yamaha's Mobile Music Sequencer is worth a look too as it lets you copy the chord sequence from anything in your iTunes music library.

is chordweaver any good? Looks interesting, but kind of expensive and no reviews makes me wary.
It seems like we have just given you the same list of apps that are in the store that you had "no idea what to take a crack at." I'm sure all these apps are great, but you can't buy them all. And some may be more than you need. So maybe you could help us by telling us: what do you mean by experimenting/noodling?
There are apps that can have the capability of giving you cool chords where you have no idea what you're playing. Sometimes even random chords.
There are apps like SessionBand and Chordbot, which can turn your chord progressions into fully realized arrangements in various styles.
Most apps do more than one thing. Some are very simple and some of them are very deep and powerful, like Polychord. Some are awesome if you do electronica and some are better suited if you are a singer/songwriter.
Any hints you want to give us so we can make a suggestion that is good for you personally? These apps are all created to help your creative process. As we are all different kinds of musicians who work different ways--what is best for some of us may not be what's best for you.
If you know theory and just want to experiment with composing progressions, then:
Chordbot
Tonal Harmony Pro
Klimper
are all good in their own way.
Klimper is nice and simple and basically works. Chordbot is a little bit more involved, but it will create arrangements. This can be useful, can be a distration (I find the free version is actually sufficient for my purposes). Tonal Harmony Pro is a full on theory/experimental monster. If you look at the website and get it, and think you want some, buy it. If you're baffled - probably not for you.
If you want something that will play chords for you then that's not something I've ever really wanted/needed.
Chordweaver is odd. Has some interesting progressions but doesn't give you any clue as to what they are! Then you have to deconstruct them to make the melody etc.
There's a bunch of videos on the web site that give an idea of how to use it.
Changeling's alright
Have you found a way to sync the recording in changeling with a daw at all?
No, but I don't think I ever tried looking for it. Before LINK I never bothered to Midi sync anything on iOS.
