Music Memos -- wow
Though it's been overshadowed by the GB update, I'm blown away by Apple's other recent effort, this free little sketchpad app. (Apologies if there's already a thread on this -- haven't found one). https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/music-memos/id1036437162?mt=8 It's super intuitive, and it makes working up a song idea from scratch remarkably fun and easy. This is exactly what I've been looking for for a while, an app that both lets me preserve some idea while I'm noodling around on guitar and even lay the groundwork for a finished song.

Agree. You'd have to be able to fit it in the workflow or figure out how to profit from it, but I've already written a few slight things outside the supermarket that probably wouldn't have seen the light of day otherwise...fun little piece.
When I try and install it it says it is not compatible with my iPad 2. Sounds like a good one.
Yeah i'm really pumped about having this on my phone. Should tidy up the ol' voice memo process. I have like 3300 In the 2 yrs of having a 5s. Most of which are just incremental, default-labeled changes to ideas because it's just faster to start a new one.
The accompaniment cracks me up. I did some pretty straight fingerpicking and got a rad shufflebeat to go with it.
Ok, really gave this one a fair shake over the last few days and wanted to give my impressions. First, the name is "Music Memo", and it could not be named more perfectly. It's not meant to create full songs with. In fact, it suffers when you go beyond about bar 12, but...I've thoroughly enjoyed playing with ideas that I would have otherwise just tossed to the side. Honestly, it's caused me to actually use chunks of a lick I thought were absolute rubbish. It's absolutely intuitive. Far from perfect on many tracks initially too, I won't say it's all Blue Sky, but it IS magic most of the time. As far as the sounds being somewhat canned, I can only speak for myself, but when I'm playing a song from my head, I don't care what the accompaniment is. They can play whatever they like as long as they're on time and don't make me sound like a jaloppy with a flat tire. But from hitting record to having a backing track in about 30 seconds is astonishingly satisfying. And the price is not indicative of it's worth for me personally. Kudos to Apple for sliding in one hell of a little surprise.
Agree with you. S'been a nice addition.
Would it be fair to say this is a very close relation to the new Band Creator app? If so this is very unfortunate timing for the poor developer of Band Creator but great news for appaholics. How do they compare in use?
