Alchemy Mobile... what the hell...
...will Apple now do with it. I downloaded it again with all the additional soundpacks on my iPhone 6S plus and played with it.
It reminds me that it is still the best sounding and most usable iOS synth (player) ever to create a full track by a country mile and has some of my all time favourite patch banks from all synths i ever own!
I want so bad Alchemy 2 full mobile! Playing with the remix pads is so much fun via touch screen and it would let me instabuy an iPad Pro as well!
I just can't believe that they have nothing new planned for their idevices here.
Even on desktops (beside Alchemy 2, Equator and NI kore maybe) there is no synth which has such fantastic options to change timbre and sound character on a fly and is made for expressive live music!
Such a shame that it is abandoned yet.....

I was really hoping they would add at least a simple version to Garageband iOS,like they did with the desktop version.Maybe later then....I still can imagine they'll do something with it on iOS.But what and when?
I like it but best synth ever seems a tad bit hyperbolic given its lack of depth for editing. I was just mentioning last night in fact that even though I have it and various add ons, I almost never take it out to use it. It leaves a bad taste given the history of the whole Alchemy bullshit that was perpetrated. I would choose several over Alchemy no doubt. Nave and Sunrizer being just two from the top of my head that I would much prefer. I can picture all of the joy when Apple finally puts the final screws in by charging everyone again for the " new and improved" version if they can ever get it right that is.
IPad Pro 2 with 3D touch maybe! Add the Z axis to Alchemy and it´s remix pads.... that would be a dream.
Because of that i said i wanted a full version. I know it´s a player but i had over 1000 patches in the mobile edition and there was and is still no iOS synth whixh comes even close to the versatile results i can get here.
Since Alchemy 2 was free i doubt they would charge for an Alchemy 2 mobile.
Nave and Sunrizer are great but they not the right thing for me for different genres and as possible stand-alone synth!
They are too static for me against Alchemy. Noise (aka Equator) would be the next dimension here but worthless without proper connection to other iOS apps/DAW´s.
I much prefer Synthmaster as well, but that's just because I find myself using it a lot more than Alchemy. Perhaps it is time to dust off the old girl,(alchemy) and give her another dance. I do remember the drums being some of the worst I have heard on iOS though so I will have to use the other sounds with perhaps another drum app. Sounds like something fun to noodle with and am going to give it a go again. I have been spending much more time in the evenings trying out various apps with my ILoud which just makes all of my apps sound better than ever. This will be the same no doubt. I only wish they had given us some half way decent drums prior to selling out to Apple.
It's really easy to roll your own drums though.
I also thought synthmaster player would be a good replacement and when i just using the presets as they are it is a good option. But once i start to want to make rythmic changes with FX, the XY pads etc. Alchemy is so much better for me. The FX transitions within synthmaster are not nearly as smooth and interesting for my taste.
Also synthmaster seems to be an even bigger cpu hog!
Alchemy is a thing of its own....
Apple must realise just how special alchemy is!
I've been thinking that we'll eventually see Logic iOS, especially with the iPad Pro out. Just seems to kind of fit the direction they're heading, appealing more to professionals and all.
I was always believing in a Logic for ipad but the big GB update made me doubt we'll see it anytime soon. But meanwhile...there's Auria Pro.I'm happy enough with that one...for now
Eventually. And it will have alchemy 2 in it. And it will be the only way to get it.
I think.
I'd be really surprised to see Logic on the iOS platform myself, cant imagine trying to use something like the Environment on a touch device. An alchemy standalone synth now, that might be possible. Err, because we already have it
Yes, sadly. It would need an iPap Pro only app then. But i still think they should have an own category "iPad Pro Apps" in the store ratherr than "iPad Pro optimized" apps.
Currently developers cannot release a Pro only app, it has to work on the smaller iPads too per Apple's rules I'm afraid.
An Alchemy standalone iOS app would kind of undercut the desktop version of Logic. Then again, they did add Alchemy to Logic in a free update, so who knows maybe they'll be generous. Seems to me though that it's more likely they keep Alchemy tied to Logic, to help keep Logic unique. If they offer Alchemy by itself, the appeal of Logic drops to a certain degree.
As for Logic itself on iOS, the way they keep dragging their feet with Garageband sort of suggests to me that maybe they have something more advanced in the works. I mean we only just now got volume automation added to Garageband, and still no per track effects automation. Yeah it's true you can do some things with that app, it just would make more sense for Apple to get their well regarded professional software out on their devices.
That is THE problem i see for "pro" apps..... i´m still thinking 3-4 times a day to pull the trigger for an iPad Pro since i can get it still for about 250 bucks less.... but then my latest layering Audiobus experiment with my iPhone 6S shows me that there are still problems with apps don´t like other apps etc. and the lack of apps which uses the horsepower.
Might be true.... as cheap as Logic Pro X is, it´s mostly in the top 1-3 of payed apps in the german mac app store. So they get a bunch of money here too.
No one in the iOS world would pay 200 bucks for an app..... i would if that would be an "pro" app
Full down load of logic X is over 50gb ........
This. Maybe it will show up in "Logic Control" or whatever it's called but I think part of the appeal/scheming to Apple was the touch aspect of Alchemy. It'll come.
Since i have no plans to ever get the pro (too big for my taste) i like this restriction.
Egoist.....
Absolutely
Except, Alchemy you can import your own samples for amazing presets with the inline templates and control parameters via midi controlling capability.
The arp and keys templates in particular.
Synthmaster is amazing, I just wish I could do more like on the VST as far as control.
Amazingly, my 2 favorite apps are my 2 favorite VSTs, Alchemy and S-Master.
When it comes to synth apps for me, ditto.
One of the things I like about both is PRESETS. I'd much rather drive a luxury sports car than build one. Alchemy's floating 8 box thingie was all the editing control I ever wanted
I only use Novation Midi hardware with IOS so the buttons are literally perfect for mapping.
Ditto on loving to twiddle black magic knobs.
At least apple has separate mail for alchemy stuff
