How to embed YouTube video on this forum ?

I 've tried adding a couple of YouTube videos to my posts with only limited success . Is there a FAQ/Howto I'm missing somewhere ?

using the Link icon I paste the YouTube URL & get some algebraic formula involving the URL repeating 3 times in various types of brackets which although seemingly clickable as a link in the text gives unknown server. Removing 1 "https" from an unlikely looking pai gets me a clickable link through to YT , hooray,
but I'd like to know how to embed the video in the thread . Thanks .

  • You should be able to just paste the youtube URL into the text box, skipping the link button completely. Keep the S on the https://youtubez url. If you're browsing this forum via an httpS url, some browsers will block any embedded http (no S) content as a security mechanism.

  • Thanks @syrupcore , I"ve reposted with embedded now .
Is it possible / should I ... delete this thread ? dont wanna waste pixels & get in the way

  • Deleting a thread after you have got the solution to your issue/question is not the way to. Sharing this kind of information is the whole point to a forum like this IMO.
BTW thanks for the info @syrupcore

  • Yep, what @DeVlaeminck said. Maybe the next person having trouble with it will find this thread.

Would be good if the Vanilla oEmbed plugin actually appended the S automatically for embed sites known to serve https so users don't have to think about it.

  • Fine by me , didnt know if I was a nuisance asking . Ideally there would be a Forum FAQ sticky for such info .
