  • Good stuff! Thanks for putting this together.

@High5denied Well done that man. I think Gemma has all sorts of possibilities if it would only get OUT more....

Can report that (from here) Minor Thirds does indeed appear to be a 'cool little app'. Works very nicely with iSymphonic running in AB.

AND: Phase Rings is also pretty zen garden like in AB, esp via FLUX (or your equivalent, no doubt).

  • Gemma is very intriguing. Imagine an app that contains five stripped down apps, called Gems. Each Gem is extremely minimal with few options.

    ZIRCON Bare bones drum machine
AXINATE - Noise generator - Touch the screen to get random sound and visuals
AZURITE Touch activated ambient music app-- touch to hear a sound, hold finger down to record it
AMETHYST Beat machine that lets you layer drum, bass, Chord and lead sounds on a grid of 16 notes, actually kind of fun.
EMERALD - Poly synth. This is the only Gem that has the complexity of programming that you find in other synths--voices, effects, arpeggiator.

What we have here is five free apps you'd probably delete immediately because you have better ones.

But here's the thing: the developer is promising "Ensemble Mode," which will allow you to create songs by using multiple Gems at the same time. Combining all these simple apps into one pattern would give you something that is quite complex while at the same time being super easy to use.

And if one looks beyond that, there is the potential for the developer to add more Gems. They could expand the functionality of the ones that are already there. But that might defeat the purpose. This is not intended to be Gadget or Table Top. Aside from Emerald, It's a lot of easy-to-use stuff put together.

I look forward to the updates. There's real possibility here.

  • I liked them very much!

  • Thanks for the heads up.
    PhaseRing is quite lovely.

  • Great list, thanks!

  • You betch-a .

  • Here's one that may have been missed: "Miditure" a cool little iPhone MIDI controller, nothing fancy but it works well.

Agree with love for PhaseRings, I like it for its sounds, as a midi controller and it's a universal app.

  • This is the developer using minorthirds and ifretless and Tonestack I think to do some Police!!
