A wonderful free (for now) midi controller
For those adventurous iOS musicians Trapezoid MIDI - Hammered Dulcimer MIDI Controller is free until Monday normally $9.99. I have had a quick play and it sounds wonderful. I was a little bit intimidated at first glance but it is easy enough to work out the scales as the notes are displayed. I don't think this is app is for everyone but I am very pleased with it. The sister app that produces an actual hammered dulcimer sound (no midi) is also currently free. This guy is a great developer and has a range of folk instrument simulation apps that act as midi controllers. I would love to hear what others think of this. I am very impressed and along with Midi guitar 2 its been a great iOS day for those of us with no keyboard skills.

Cool thanks
Nice tip. Appreciated.
Wow cool! Thanks @banjofran!
Hey @jakoB_haQ I didn't know you are on the cover of an app!
Haha too funny...it's the Swedish Bagpipes; Säckpipa. The description says that it has a lovely, haunting single drone. I'll buy you this app if you use it in a video!
Thanks for that.
Works great with ThumbJam
Thanks.
I can't see any new to this app?
Is'nt Thumbjam already this kind of app, but, 100 times better?
Ok, it's free, that's nice, but, if you want this with an different UI choose the amazing Thumbjam instead!
steel guitar, hammered dulcimer, we're getting closer to an all-ipad Swans cover band tribute deal.
Thumbjam uses the samples from Michael Eskin's apps (except the bagpipe apps)
@ErrkaPetti the horizontal rolls and three parallel notes is different than Thumbjam. The app allows you to play synths using the same style and playing techniques as you would with a hammer dulcimer. This is a similar approach to MIDI apps that emulate the playing style of a guitar.
OK, I'll give it a second chance though ;-)
Thank's!
