Splashtop.

Haven't had time to test it but today's Splashtop update says it now allows mixing the remote and local audio which sounds intriguing

Oh and for those that don't know Splashtop lets you use your PC or Mac on your iPad either via your local wifi or for a fee over the Internet.

  • Never heard of this, anybody try running a desktop DAW through this?

  • I've run Logic with it. Splashtop just streams audio and video of your PC screen. Works ok if a lil bit fiddly sometimes. Depends how much traffic is going across your network though.

  • This is wicked cool, I have full control of my computer from my iPad Air ! Sitting in my recliner and viewing watch series.com for tv. Now I do not have to get up to see the print and can do all my searches right from my chair. /I opened reaper and could control it but the audio was wonky and I am not sure why yet. I really got it for a tv remote or to download stuff and play with YouTube and that sort of thing. Thanks for the heads up!

  • My pleasure. Happy someone found it useful.

So would I have to disconnect my audio interface on my desktop in order for me to hear the audio on the iPad?

  • Oh dear....this is incredibly lazy-making (as if I needed help).....

  • Gave it a quick go and it turned my computers resolution to REALLY low, which i dont want. Would had used it as a second screen. Uninstalled

No. Well I didn't disconnect mine.

It's more designed for remote access than as a second screen.

I only got to try it with fl studio for now. I had to use the desktops soundcard. Other than that.. I think it's really cool app. To be honest .. it's amazing that it even streams audio at all! In the past I accomplished with a laptop and some program (forgot the name) and it wouldn't stream audio.

  • Thanks for finding and sharing this. My inner cynic wants to know why in the world they went from 20 to free.

I'm not going to feed into your negativity! =p

You can set the screen resolution that is used, right up to "native" which matches the resolution on your pc. For free this is amazing! It works with the Apple Pencil on my iPad Pro, but does not recognise pressure, that would be really cool!

Don't they charge a fee for remote access over the net?
