John Mayer's Gravity Organ

Hello all... I've been trying to recapture the sound of the organ in this song without any luck. I have the Galileo app which I really like, but it's too complicated to create a custom tone for a guitarist like me. Any suggestions inside the Galileo presets or another app may be very useful. Many thanks.

Not a track that I am familiar with but I had a quick listen. Something like 8 and 4 ft drawbars out, the rest at zero, slow leslie, vibrato on, should get you in the right area.

I wish I could do that too... Hey @PhilW If it's not asking too much, could you please post a screenshot or any description to follow.

  • A quick Google says it's a Hammond B3

  • Just had a look at the track and the closest preset in Galileo is 'pretty' in the gospel bank. A bit of tweaking should get you there. Otherwise it's Korg module which gets pricey.

These are the shots of my settings. The upper keyboard has a brighter sound with a little percussion, the lower one has a more subtle sound. I originally learned to play keyboards on a Hammond T100 drawbar organ, so I feel very at home with Galileo.

  • Very much appreciated @PhilW Thanks @BiancaNeve and @Captaintitanic .

Guess you can't post presets here eh?
Is that hard for apps to implement? The Audulus forum has a lot of presets posted to "open in" Audulus. Works great.

Unrelated.. I like the tonewheel Crimson theme

Nice work PhilW, Works for that song, and I just like this tone in general for subtle backing. Gonna store it :)

You have all the fx off? Just curious. I find some of the fx really muddy up the sound and not in a good way. Bit of reverb works though. Aside from reverb and rotary cabinet I generally like the rest off. You?

Trying Galileo in audiobus with some reverb from mobile convolution app. Much better.

  • Yes I just had the rotary and reverb on, the rest off. Thanks for the feedback.
