So is the idea here that this is Electro v.2? I have SP Pro, and Electro. But just so I don't clutter up my screen, should I be replacing Electro with the Link edition or is there a reason I should keep Electro (and Pro) in addition to Link?

  • Link Edition is a new app. It has a vastly improved sound engine (seriously, it's just great) and does all the nice Link things. And you can basically play the whole app via Audiobus Remote...

@Sebastian Regarding the Propellerheadz thread about developer problems with long term app maintenance and Apple needing to allow developers to charge for upgrades: In my opinion, charging for a new version (in this case Prism Link Edition), is the right way to go. I support this being a new app and having a price attached!

Apart from Link what is real 'unique selling point' of the new version?

I've already got the two previous versions and honestly have not been using them that much as I'm more of a 'programmer-type' than 'player-type' when it comes to music-creation.

Will the pricing be same as the previous versions?

    I totally agree with this!

  • And you complain about 808 with link as iap :)

  • how much will this cost if I already own the other 2 sound prism apps?

  • Will this be on iPhone as well?

Looks very nice. I skipped the electro version. Had soundprism bought all the sound packs and now have pro. This one looks like something I might buy to replace the pro version even though I spent $20? on the pro and sounds.
Would prefer there to be just 2 versions in total of soundprism. The pro with added electro sounds and this one.
As is we have soundprism, soundprism pro, soundprism electro, and now soundprism link? I'm not sure why. Seems a bit redundant. Oh and soundprism electro mini for the iPhone.

  • @Redo1 the SP Link app has tempo dependent effects which neither SP Pro nor SP Electro has. The way you can control MIDI in SP Electro versus SP Pro is different with respect to the bass, chorus, and melody modes plus SP Electro has a filter/CC slider which SP Pro doesn't have. SP Pro has more flexibility in terms of selecting MIDI channels for all of your touches than SP Electro which is set to specific channels. The built in sounds in all three apps are different. All three apps look similar but have some different capabilities.

    Worth it, to you?

  • Perhaps good that I cannot easily find the 'buy me now' link for this. Must also say that Jakob either has a bit of a cold or is working on his Sci-Fi Hero voice :)

thanks Seb, on another note what do you think about giving audiobus the capability to change screens to the selected app by just tapping the apps icon instead of having to tap an arrow etc...?

I have no idea what everyone's talking about... But it nudged me to open SP electro and feed the MIDI out to Animoog for the past hour. So very inspiring. Just wow.

Ha. Me too. Thought it was out already but after a lot of not being able to find it I just ran up Neo through SPP and simply enjoyed myself...

  • Not much longer :)

  • Out in Uk now, for some reason the individual price is £3.99, I looked at the bundle as I already own the original SoundPrism and SoundPrism Electro and for me to by the bundle it was £9.99 which was strange is the price correct Seb? I brought it separate anyhow as I'm happy to support cheers time to play.

Did you buy them individually or in the bundle before? Apple is not making it easy for us to do update pricing on bundles, that's why we had to make a new bundle (the old one is still available from your previous purchases tab in the App Store app).

  • Hi Seb no I brought them individually before, no problem loving the new sounds and possibilities, quick question is link capability disabled in external midi mode if you try to drive a non link app? I just tried Poseidon a bass sound it played the synth but no change in tempo. I then thought about using Midi Link Sync as a connecting host to try it that way but ended up with double timing Poseidon !

  • Looks like the same problem as the DPP bundle. Zero reduction for previous purchases. No "Complete my bundle" option. Maybe a general AppStore issue ?

  • The bundle option is buggered it knows that I have the Pro and the Electro versions but still wants $20 to complete my bundle yet the Link edition costs $8 Australian to purchase separately.

Same for me, I hope they sort the App Store fast on this, it is getting ittitating!

  • To be honest I actually thought the original idea for a bundle was if you wanted to buy multiple apps at once from the same developer rather than individually it was a cheaper way to go. I forgot about complete my bundle options.

  • The DPP bundle issue for me at least was cheaper once it finally came out as I owned the original and paid full price for it.
