Is that not the name of the area 51 Audiobus affiliated app that will fix all issues know to IOS music app users?
Has that technology been instead licensed to companies lieu of public program release?
If it is being used by app companies, does anyone know when the app for the general public will be released?

It's not an app, it is code that developers can use in their apps. It's been around a while.
Oh, cool.
Here I am waiting for some app to come out that never is because it's not an app at all. Just a code.
How many different options are there as far as codes for that sort of technology for developers to choose from?
As many as there are developers?
Some are too 'proud' not to use code made by others, some code needs to be licensed, and there are always more than one way to do things.
Development would slow down considerably if everyone waited for 'some one else' to do the hard work or update the frameworks that makes their apps unstable.
What makes developing in the 'modern world' harder than in the good old days is that developers have to 'shoot at a moving target'(OS Updates, Newer Hardware etc).
As for 'Link' in say Cubase, Logic and other 'Bigname' software the developers need to swallow their pride and accept that they are not the best developers in the world for everything.
As for the implementation of 'standards' they can be coded with varying success rate...
