Synthmaster update with LINK in the Store

What about this week? :)

Comments

  • Thanks, downloading it now.

  • Updated...after restoring the second purchase and beyond error message "preset bank could not be loaded" is still there.

  • Awesome Update!!! Downloading now!!

I seem to recall that they said (several months ago admittedly) that they would have a new IOS version in the new year which allowed a lot more editing - that's the one I'm really waiting for!

  • There is a bug however. Tempo Changes via Link dont update the Arp Speed. You need to nudge the bpm up and down 1 bpm in order to resync it. Other than that very nice.

What i like most about the update: "fixed crash when used with Auria"

    Thanks!

  • My bug/feature-request got done! If you purchase one of the preset bank bundles, all of the individual banks show as Purchased--which makes it much easier to tell what you Have purchased and what you have yet to purchase! AND Link support!!!!! These two things alone make it a fantastic update!!!!!

I appreciate this also (and Link also also).

  • It's a good developer and obviously the return on invest is good for KV331. I like Synthmaster very much.

  • Me too! It is tied for first place on my device

It's a resource glutton, but it is well worth it.
At the risk of sounding like a heretic, I like it even more than Alchemy.

  • I really wish they would address the huge CPU usage with the new version. All patches now seem to use about twice as much CPU as they did on the version before the GUI update.

    I second that.

Mee too. This is a serious issue - please do something.

    I 4th this!

5th. making the Air 3 look more attractive.

  • They should be able to optimize and get CPU usage down. I can't believe the huge spike in CPU is all because of the new GUI

  • Mmm. At the risk of sounding contrary, what do you all love about synth master so much?

For me, it felt like there were a lot of sounds (lots of big dance sounds especially) but mostly not much of a way to manipulate them (other than a basic filter). Alchemy has loads more parameters.

I guess if you just like picking a patch and playing it, it's great. But I quite like making a sound morph and change and/or coming up with something I feel is my own.

    Horses for courses I guess.

  • Synthmaster just has a wide variety of very good sounds. I haven't even gotten to many of them yet, but I like rich, complex, moving textures, and I'm not a great sound designer myself. Sounds inspire me to make music. And with the two XY pads, the 8 parameter knobs, the mod-wheel, and the effects, (depending on how the patch was designed) the sounds are not static with no expression possible. As just a patch player and not a programmable synth, it's a welcome addition to the band.

Alchemy is no more however and many of the Synthmaster sounds are better than Alchemy even without the deep editing capabilities. They both have good things to offer but I do prefer the sounds in Synthmaster for the most part.

  • I love Alchemy and have been exploring it a bit in Logic X. Insanely deep. It was the first synth (player) I bought on the iPad. I still don't feel I know Synthmaster well enough to say I like the sounds better than Alchemy, but I like having both. Synthmaster appears to have a brighter future on iOS but, who knows, maybe Apple will put Alchemy in GB or something and allow for it to be controlled and recorded externally. Not holding my breath on that.

  • For some reason i think we are going to see a stand alone version of Alchemy on IOS with AU features.

That HAS been alluded to by the developer to some extent.

  • I think you might be able to do a lot with Synthmaster, but its interface is not at all intuitive. I can't even figure out how to assign vibrato to the mod wheel. (And unfortunately most presets don't have it.) And I could not find any video tutorials about it. And I wrote to tech support asking how to this basic task and never got a reply.

It does have some fantastic presets, IF you purchase additional expansion sets.

  • Microlouge and Synthmaster sound so amazing together. Was playing it through Cubasis, and all i can say is amazing sounds to be made!

    I do hope so!!!!

I wonder if they can charge again for the app? Or will they just charge for new packs?

Even if they would charge for the app, apple has always been very generous with the retail price of it's own apps.On iOS but not only (Logic is ridicoulously cheap).I don't think it would cost more than 5 bucks.
