Battery Life SOLVED

Being my first iPad, I have nothing to compare my battery life against.

I've had my Air 2 for about a year now. Battery life has always seemed to be around 9 to 10 hours per charge throughout iOS 8 to current iOS 9.2.1.

Lately I seem to only be getting about 7 to 8 hours.

I charge usually when I get to just under 10% remaining.

I use my iPad every day, sometimes for more than one charge.

I've checked the battery usage and can't see any apps using more than normal battery.

The only two things that have changed since I noticed this happening is updating to iOS 9.2.1 and having more AU and Link apps running.

Or could it just be my battery degrading normally through high use?

Comments

  • Probably the latter, I'd think.

  • Lithium based batteries like to be charged as often as possible. The more full charging cycles (where the charge goes below 10%) the sooner it will lose capacity. If you keep the battery between 70%-100% most of the time it will last long.

I have two iPads from 2012, their battery is still in good shape. And I've seen iPads and iPhones with almost unusable batteries after just one year.

  • Cpu heavy duty cycles do eat lots of battery as well. In my experience more probable then battery consumption.

  • I've found the official line now.

iPad will lose about 20 % of its battery life after 1000 full cycles.

I've probably done about 450 to 500 full cycles since I've had my iPad, so it's loss of battery is not far from the norm.
