Rock Drum Machine Skips beats in the beginning of song.....

Had it synced with Cubasis but when I hit play in Cubasis, the start of RDM is skipping until like the third bar, then it settles just fine. Anyone having same issue. Also, having count in enabled doesn't work either in sync mode with Cubasis. Any ideas are welcome. Thanks!

  • I"ve had similar trouble; got it to work after a few tries, but wouldn't call that a fix.

Have you updated app? There was a sync fix in last update.

  • Oh yeah, it syncs alright start stop etc but only when you start the song, the first measures are all over the place. I'll try it with Auria to see if its a Cubasis issue. But these DAWs and RDM need LINK badly.

  • Grrr. I was trying this again last night, simply could not get Loopy to record the first beat. I also tried deleting the app and reinstalling. That didn't fix the problem, but it introduced a series of new kits and new rhythm/kit associations:

    RR Big
    RR Rockbin
    RR Roomy Rockbin
    RR Sidestick

Anyone know what those are about? If you click on the mixer, it shows "Robin Hats (RR)," which makes me think RR might stand for round robin. I've just sent the dev a message on his Facebook page, inviting him to join our conversation here.

Luis is really A great guy! He has made RDM my #1 used drums app. Van wait for him to add LINK. That would be awesome!

I'd been using Loopy (can't get it to work anymore after that one lucky try), and just tested with Cubasis. It's exactly as tones4christ describes: a mess for the first few bars.

I still enjoy this for jamming, but recording loops and building them into songs is frustrating. Of course, you can always just hit the record button on Audioshare, then play on RDM, and trim the result. But then you're editing, not jamming.

  • Great Idea! I need to learn to do this..

The new AUMixer works better. Load RDM into an AUM channel, arm it to record (by pressing the R button), and then hit record in the transport. Play the requisite number of bars, press pause in the transport (to end recording), and go to the file menu. Find your newly recorded file, open it in Audioshare, select Tools | Trim & Fade, and choose SNAP (instead of FADE or NUDGE). The beginning of the recording is already flush, so you just need to trim the end, and since it already knows the BPM, snap makes it simple. Save and then export the resulting file to Loopy HD...1

Starting RDM with the AUM transport play button works about 3/4 of the time. The other 1/4, it's just like recording into Loopy: the initial hit is skipped. So something is still wrong. But if you need to get something done -- and that's the point of this app, for me -- try AUM.

1 A later version of AUM will let you set the number of bars to record and then stop; when this function is added, you could just select the recording in AUM's file system, long press, and "open in" Loopy HD; the recording will be exactly n bars long, with no trimming.
