  • I can't imagine that fitting into any of the music I tend to make, but I think I will check it out too. It looks freaky cool.

  • Oh cool, this is the guy who does strng. Love that app.

  • It's really nice, hope it gets landscape mode though :)

Very cool for a buck. Agree on the landscape mode.

  • A manglewurzel worth a dollar for the fingering.

Goes well with a cup of tea and a slice of cake, Sally.

  • Done!
All of Erik's apps are winners.

  • Wish there were more sound examples. Maybe Sound Test Room can do a video?

  • This is so abstract I think I can do without landscape. Just bend your brain an additional 90 degrees.

  • Take my brain (at all angles).

  • Just Yes.

Bent (; encouraging to reach outside for a live sound source ... Compliment.

  • For $0.99 USD, this is an easy buy. His apps are all "out-of-the-box" in both interface and sound design. Love 'em.

so i understand that it does a sort of pitch shifting effect? how many octaves can it shift up or down?

  • OK. This thing is awesome. Delay along the lines of Dedalus, super fast response time, does ringy stuff, ping pong ball on a table kinda stuff (delay gets closer together), has filters and fun to interact with. Bouncing across my headphones in sterererereo. Thanks for posting this. I like Nils and Elsa, so I think this is another hit.

Goddamn it this guy needs to figure out landscape mode in many of his apps though.

    Good stuff.

  • how are the import /export options in this?

@kobamoto - as far as I can see there are no import / export options available for samples but it works pretty well in AB and even in IAA (if you start it prior to the host).

And it can be automated pretty easily with CC from Modstep or Midisequencer.

  • couldn't hear any frequency shifting effect in that short video, but after installing and testing I can confirm it does frequency shifting. Nice, that's an effect I didn't have yet.

The frequency slider goes from -5000hz to 5000hz not sure how that equates to octaves though

  • Another excellent, truly original effect. Lots of fun to be had, don't think I've come across anything else on iOS that can do this (+1 for landscape :) )

Not so likely, these days, what with Doug being discombobulated at present, and Jakob busy seeking his fortune. But, you never know. As with another recent app, Cream Mobile, I'd love to see what those guys could do with Frekvens.

I vote that we get Jon aka PantOfDeath to start officially making overview demos! The few that he has on tstr site are brilliant.

  • a Bode frequency shifter costed a small fortune in the early days.

  • Hi guys, developer here. Thanks for all the nice comments, I am a bit surprised actually someone would want one of these. :) Will definitely have a look at landscape, sometime soon.

The octaves it can shift depend on what frequencies you feed it with, since one octave is equal to doubleing the frequency. So, if you take a concert A at 440 Hz, one octave above would be 880 Hz. But if you have harmonics and timbre frequencies in there frekvens wouldn't double them also like a pitch shifter, it would shift all frequencies linearly, creating a different harmonic structure.

    Cheers

    ERik

  • I went on AppShopper.com and set up an account that notifies me when new apps and updates are made in the Music category. It is great because I will get heads up on updates for my existing apps but also get news of a new gem like this app Frekvns.

I feel for $0.99 I can't lose on a music production app. If I can get a cool sound or effect out of it only once it was worth getting and I like supporting app devs anyway because these cats just may be working on a phenomenal app that we all will love and the support from guys like us helped finish it off.

A dollar here, a dollar there adds up, which could be the reasoning behind not buying every little cheap app that comes along but I feel the dollar here, the dollar there is worth it in the long run.

Sounds good, I'll check it out.

Yeah it kicks ass, only downside is you want everything! I see Korg Gadget is on sale and it takes some self control not to just hit buy. Especially when there's no real dough leaving your hand, it doesn't feel like you're spending $20 bones.

But the money is real alright, I get the credit card statement in and I'm trying to keep it on the D-Low with the wife, lol. Just a word to the wise..."Hey, it's for my music!" can only go so far. Roses & See's Candies may save you.

  • Easily worth it if there is any kind of interest in experimental noise generation :)
    +1 for landscape mode.

    yes landscape mode, pretty please

  • This is frickin' awesome, instant buy. I've had ELSA for some time, now Frekvens and also bought Strng today, also considering Nils... it sounds pretty wicked.
