FieldScraper vs iDensity?
I'm interested in both of these apps, but they appear to do very similar things... at least how I vaguely understand them.
They're both about the same price and they both mangle sound the way I kind of want to play with, and they're both universal.
FieldScraper looks like it might be slightly more intuitive, but I can't tell for sure.
Are these very close to the same kind of app? Or, are they significantly different enough to warrant having them both? I really need another app like I need a hole in the head but I'm going to pick up AUM when it launches and one of these mangling apps, before I stop buying stuff and concentrate on learning to use what I already have (including the handful of apps I'm bought/downloaded over the last few days)
Anyone have both FieldScraper and iDensity?
Comments
iDensity
Fieldscraper
IPad - Idensity
IPhone - Fieldscraper
SOrry, that's how it shakes out for me.
Based on user interface and personal preference.
I have both, and would recommend Fieldscaper for your needs.
Actually, Sparkle is my favorite of the Apesoft family.
Long and short of it iDensity is a granular mangler player. Fieldscraper uses filters and oscilators.
I'll likely get both at some point and Sparkle is also on my wish list. But, I really need to cut myself off soon and start learning to use what I already have. My gut tells me Fieldscraper is likely what I'm really after, but I'm very intrigued by iDensity and the sounds you can get with it.
Both great. I would like an iPhone for FieldScraper
Kind of agree that Fielsdscaper is better on iphone and iDensity on iPad
Fieldscaper is good to have when you're out as it's more of a field recorder.
I much prefer the iDensity UI though.
iDensity lets you "play" the waveform similar to Samplr - if you want a "keyboard" try iPulsaret
Fieldscraper probably has a more concrete feel as to what is actually happening and more granular control to what you throw at a waveform and when. That's my opinion/ experience
Dang it... can't decide. Neither one are on sale so there's no rush. Might just wait until AUM drops in 2 days. If the intro price is really as affordable as @j_liljedahl says it'll just get both.
Now would Sparkle factor into these 2 specific choices?
Actually Samplr might do quite a bit of what iDensity does and more.
Samplr and Fieldscaper might be a better combo.
Sparkle could be considered as an evolved vocoder so I don' think it fits in this comparison.
Yes and yes
Completely agree with both assessments
Thanks all. I'm going to have to spend more time with Samplr tonight. I didn't think it was capable of the same complex level of granular stuff as iDensity. Not denying it, and wouldn't be surprised if that's true.
Samplr is not as "precise" as idensity, and doesn't have the everything "lfo" controllable
But it has more tricks bpm related and it's hard to not get something nice out of it
On the other hand if idensity gets a "link" update like apefilter I feel like I'm gonna dive way more into it, has it could be the closest to samplr on my iPhone
the golden nugget right here...
I ended up getting rid of idensity after I tried fieldscaper-
Seems like there's something of a consensus here, more or less... gonna nab Fieldscraper first and maybe expand later. I like the idea of mixing it with Samplr too. Thanks for all the great info!
