Beatmaker 2: Wait for 3 or buy?

Any word on BM3?

Should a person just buy BM2 or wait at this point?

Will BM2 have a paid upgrade to the new BM?

Why we are at it, what about Nanostudio?

    Don't do it :s :p

  • yeah... wait for 3. It will be awesome, although... God knows when it'll be out.

  • has 3 been announced? if so sure give it some time. if not, and the app right now has what you need to help you be more creative, then get it now.

  • They're waiting to see what Nanostudio 2 looks like first! :) (miaaaowww!)

  • I seem to remember that the developers of BM are devoted snowboarders,so as long there is snow, little development gets done. :)

  • I'm waiting.

  • I'll extoll the virtues of 2:
    Easiest MIDI piano-roll editor.
    Best slicing drum machine.
    Best zone-based keyboard sampler.
Easiest place to record and store audio and MIDI alongside each other.

Its a bit like MS Excel, blank inside but plenty of room to move around what you need to.
It's been my hub for years, if you ask me its infinitely useful.
is it like $10 now? If you need it, get it. It does things.

    • I waited excitedly for Auria Pro with midi, for months and months,
only to find the editor a bit clunky for my style. So, i drive it with BM2
  • Don't wait for 3! It could take a while.

  • Once one gets around the BM2-Filesystem and the few issues it has (like no way to move files without moving to DropBox and Back, or save as in another location and delete the source) it's a very capable program.
It's easily one of if not the best apps for using custom samples + it's universal and runs nicely on the iPhone too.

The BM2 sample-editors 'selection tool' can cause annoyance since there are no 'handles' to change the selection making it too easy to loose the selection when moving around in the sample, but that's just about the only 'issue' I have with the sample-editor every now and then but not always.

BM2 is such a great tool so the expectations on BM3 have shot thru the roof even before it's even launched.

Most of the sampling I do today I do with Cubasis & Mini-Sampler. (Record the audio to the 'audio' track, trim it save to MediaBay and load into Mini-Sampler, IAA instruments I sample directly in Mini-Sampler).

  • I used to use BM2 all the time. It was my go-to app on my iphone 5. Unfortunately, it doesn't work correctly on my iPhone 6s running 9.2. The REC, Mute, and + buttons on the individual tracks simply don't work. Others have posted about it on the Intua forums, and there has been nothing done to fix it.

It used to keep me entertained daily on my commute. Sadly, BM2 is useless to me now.

    @Sonicflux
That's messed up! BM2 kills on iPhone 6 (not the S). I wonder if it's the 3D Touch that's fukt it up, can that feature be turned off? 10 bucks is amazing for this app, whether 3 is coming or not. Once the novelty of Gadget on iPhone wears off ill go back to iPhone production on BM2, and Gadget synths work a treat in BM2 as IAA

  • Samu, I have Auria Pro but I see that Lura is actually just a sample player. There is no actual mini sampler -like function on it, right? I need that.. I may have to get Cubasis

  • BM2's on screen keyboard is a pain to use. I hope they change it in BM3
