Switch between mic and IAA input
Hi All,
I'm new to AudioBus and this is my first post, so hi! I'm loving the app so far; thanks to the devs.
Sorry if this has already been asked, but I haven't been able to find anything relevant.
I'd like to build a performance around Samplr. I'll be predominantly using live input from the mic (currently internal iPad mic but soon moving to iRig Pro Duo) to record my acoustic guitar (will plug it in directly once I get the iRig, and have a mic on the second channel) and vox. As well as this I'd like the option to add a few sounds from other iPad apps (say some drums from Waldorf Attack).
I'm facing a problem, though. Without AudioBus, I can use the iPad mic fine within Samplr, but I can't get it to work once I wire up Attack to Samplr from AB (I don't get any input from the mic in Samplr).
I thought I could get this to work by having another input (or another AB chain) set to "System Audio Input" but once this is wired up I get feedback (and a feedback warning). It's as if something is monitoring the mic at all times, where with Samplr on its own it does not monitor the input; you have to record before you can hear it.
Does anyone know how I can get the setup I want?
Thanks,
Bram

Plug the headphones and you shoul be able to get rid of the feedback issue.(or any cable that fits into headphones jack if you don't mind to monitor).
If you want to get multiple ins going through samplr at the same time can't do nothing but reccomend you to get AUM, build two channels(one for attack, one for mic in) and route em into a us with sampler.
But I really think you can/should be able to achieve this with one AB chain, specially with something plugged into the headphone jack.
Ps: are you bran from smart electronix?
Thanks for your reply.
I want the master output (currently headphone out) to go to the PA. As soon as I wire up the System Audio Input > Samplr in AB, the output monitors the mic input directly no matter what I'm doing in Samplr. I don't really understand why that would be, or what is actually causing it to monitor the mic. Perhaps Samplr changes it's behaviour depending whether IAA or iPad mic is being used. Either that or it's something within AB.
I'll check out AUM but would rather minimise the number of apps I have to run during a performance (for obvious reasons).
No sorry, another Bram
