Gadget's Tempo Is Incorrect

I have discovered that when exporting a track, the tempo of the track doesn't match other apps. For example, a Gadget track with 4/4 time and 120 bpm, when audio copied to another app (i.e. Multitrack DAW, Music Studio, etc.) doesn't line up with the beat markers unless I adjust the tempo in the second app to 128 bpm. Once I adjust the tempo in the second app to 128 bpm, the track markers look correct. At 128 bpm in the second app, the metronome plays in sync with the wav file from Gadget supposedly run and exported at 120bpm. It is as if 120 bpm in Gadget = 128 bpm everywhere else. This makes for huge headaches when exporting a Gadget track for further work within another app. To get things to line up for multitrack work, I have to manually zoom out and visually adjust the tempo to get everything to sync.

Has anyone else experienced this? Can anyone test and confirm what I am seeing?

I am using an iPhone 6+ and Gadget and Music Studio for my experiments, but I suspect that this problem will be the same with iPads and also with other apps.

  • By the way, another bug I found is when audio pasting through general pasteboard, iDS-10 tries to open. Can anyone confirm this one too?

  • You have to desactivate Link in the settings to be able to export gadget at the right BPM
otherwise it will always export at the default bpm wich is .... 128bpm !

  • Oh wow! Thanks @pierre!! I'll try that!! Why does that happen? I thought linked apps could all be changed by changing the tempo of any one app. Is this by design, or is this still a bug in Gadget?

Oh my god, yes. Why does this happen? Ever since I installed iDS-10, this has been a problem in every app that uses AudioCopy. It seems like it must be a bug in AudioCopy's SDK, since it happens across multiple apps (first noticed it in Cubasis and originally thought that it was a Cubasis bug, but then noticed it elsewhere) and I know that it couldn't be an iDS-10 bug, since... that'd be pretty impressive if it could force itself to open across multiple apps like that, haha.

I imagine that it must be wanting to open the AudioCopy app, but, since I don't have it installed, it thinks that...iDS-10 is a good substitute...? Once iDS-10 opens (or I refuse to open it), audio copies or pastes to the general pasteboard, as usual, but iDS-10 always wants to open up.

  • Just double click the home button on your phone and swipe ids 10 away when it opens. Yes it's annoying, but easily circumvented.
