MODSTEP velocity modulation in step sequencer view

The step sequencer view in MODSTEP allows you to set velocity level per step. Velocity modulation entered this way isn't having any effect. Can anyone else confirm this?

Velocity modulation entered into the piano roll view works as expected.

Also what's the relationship between velocity modulation entered into the two views? Strangely velocity modulation entered in the step sequencer view doesn't get reflected in the piano roll view. This doesn't make sense to me.

Yeah, there is also a similar thing with the drum and instrument views, if you enter drums in the drum view and then switch to instrument view the notes are not there, but they keep playing ! and the same thing the other way, enter notes in instrument view and they do not appear in drum view, for some I could understand as not all notes are available in drum view.

  • I'm In my first hours of trying to learn this app , if this is a bug it would help explain why I couldnt work things out .

It also seems to happen with other MOD data in the graphs on top & bottom of respective pages ? or am I misunderstanding .

In fact , FTR as the manual does not make this clear , ARE the Piano Roll Melody/Drums & Step pages meant to be 3 different graphic editing representations of THE SAME DATA in the same clip ?
This was my initial assumption , although testing shows otherwise . I would be grateful to learn that this is a bug & at least I didnt misunderstand the concept.

I feel this particular pain. I've had similar experiences with it. Indeed, this very problem had me wondering the same: "Is this a bug or am I just not getting it?" I'm still not sure.

    Sorry, not a useful reply!

Did a quick check and I couldn't replicate the notes display behavior, just velocity. All of the notes entered into step view show up correctly in piano roll view and vice versa.

In piano roll, make sure you use the octave scroll thingy on the left to navigate to where the notes are.

    :-)
