iOS 9.2.1, is it just me or is sequencing/performing with multi audio apps buggy as shit?
I just come back to iPad (Air 2) to use my old apps as an extra outboard option with Ableton and all I've done is troubleshoot!
Everything I do seems to have a crackle a pop and some fizz whilst I do it, switching apps to loading apps to playing in midi notes to selecting options to stuff stuck in the background.
I've read some stuff about a CPU frequency bug but is it just isolated to iOS 9 and latest model iPads and gonna be fixed with 9.3? Not everyone seems to have these issues from reading this forum.
Bloody mental
Comments
I only seem to get problems if I don't restart my iPad before a session and apps have not closed down properly.
Are you using an audio interface? There is a bug right now with USB audio interfaces and iOS 9.x
Do you have more details on this one?
@syrupcore there are a few threads on this issue, here's a recent one:
https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/11876/audio-interface-latency-problems/p1
Cheers @busker I hadn't been playing attention to those threads as I was happily on 8.4 but just got a new air and it has 9.2.
Yeah the UFO202 and the lightning to usb cable......
....not seeing much latency though more just glitches with the audio itself...
will have to do some tests using just the jack output....
Stay there 8.4 i cant use my ica4+ since months now, after i upgrade to 9.x, i have to do it to test several things, i hard wished i could roll back, but, sugardaddy apple know whats good for us, and downgrade is not good for us, grrrrr
i just playing around now test here try this an that but i havent a save productive system now.
I wonder if its only related to the lightning port?
Gonna investigate some more
If you have the chance test different cables. Once my iConnect midi was doing this kind of things and worse and it got fixed changing usb cable
This is a how long is a piece of string situation. I've heard many people talking of IOS 9 bugs but I haven't experienced any personally. In fact my air 2 9.2.1 seems to perform smoother than my air 2 8.4. I haven't done any extensive test but that seems to be the case.
Mr J lily mentioned 9.3 being better than 9.2 so it might solve your issues but I don't think all of the apps are affected, or maybe just some combinations of apps wake the bugs up?
I just tried it with a line out from the jack cable and loaded up Audiobus then Gadget and all was fine, then I loaded iElectribe and Gadget started making this highpitched metallic drone (quite disturbing at high volume!) and the only way to stop this was to switch back to gadget, then I loaded up ispark and it was fine and then I finally loaded Sunrizer and I had the same high pitched electro screaming from iElectribe until I switched to it.
Oh my what a mess.
Gonna try some other stuff and see what happens...
I hope so as this is pretty messy stuff at the mo.....seems pretty stable when not using IAA in any form
My rig is totally reliant on IAA since Audiobus is IAA based. I haven't tested it extensively though so can't tell but I've run a couple of long sessions and I haven't heard as much as one crackle using loopy, Turnado, Samplr, Magellan, sunrizer, tone stack all at once.
One thing I've noticed is increased latency on impaktor (air 2) which I use in my job but a reinstal improved things so maybe it is just a question of reinstalling various apps or maybe starting afresh wiping out the whole iPad and reinstalling apps one by one?
Is this on Air 2 iOS 9.2.1?
Just bought the air 2 and installed everything this week! I did a full reset before installing any apps.
I suppose it could be related to bulk installing (ie: selecting all my owned apps one by one in the app store and redownloading at the same time) will try deleting and re-installing and resetting ipad see if that helps.
I must add that once the apps were all routed to Audiobus it seemed ok although i only tested for a few minutes.
Yes
Give it a shot. At times there's only one or two app that causes problems, you just have to find it. Good luck.
Whatkind of interface do u have? I'm gonna buy the upcoming ipad air and i'm looking to get the audiobox itwo
There's some discussion of similar experiences on this thread and others...

@j_liljedahl the AUM seems to think ios 9.3 might solve some audio crackling issues.
