Gentle pitch shifting app?

I'm tuning my loops for use in Samplr and I'm looking for an app that can change the pitch in small increments. I already have Anytune but somehow it won't let me export in wav (I bought all of the IAPs). I also have beat time but it will only go in semitones.

Of course 'open in' and/or general pasteboard would be good.

Any leads?

TwistedWave has pretty handy pitch/time-streatch features.

If you're on a Desktop you can check out the online-version here.

Pitch shift without affecting the length of the sample

Cheers, yeah I'm aware of that one. I was hoping I wouldn't have to spend £7.99 but if there's no cheaper/better alternatives I'll probably get it. There's also Hokusai but so far it's been a bit cryptic UI wise and import IAP is £7.99 anyway.

How do you find the UI on twisted wave?

  • If you own it already Auria Pro has pitch shifting/time stretching functions

No I don't. I'm not a daw person so it would be an overkill getting it just for audio editing. Thanks

  • I really hope Audioshare gets it.

The UI works fine for the most part, feature wise it's not even close to the desktop version of TwistedWave.

Thomas the developer is quite responsive.
(It took about a month to get document picker support).

I have requested a few other things that have not yet appeared in the iOS version (they are present in the desktop version). Main cause being that not many people have requested similar features yet.

The main 'issues' that I still have with it is that there is no way in the iOS version to turn off the 'zero-snap' when making selections. And that the sample length is always shown in time rather than samples.

If more people ask for similar features they might appear in a future update.
    (Twistted Wave was updated yesterday).

I've not tested the 'Free' version of Twisted Recorded (IAP unlocks same features as Twisted Wave).

  • I think AudioStretch can do this. I should probably know for sure since I own then app, but I think I have only used it once to mess with the timing, not the pitch.

  • What about Audiostretch?

It does time and pitch shift.

There is a free lite version

You could just load Anytune into AUM, and record the output. It works.

  • Audiostretch could do this I guess. Can't say for sure though as I only have an old version where this is not possible yet, but since version 3.5 it features import/ export via audioshare and others.

Audiostretch adds silence on both ends on export. Also doesn't automatically find the end of the sample which is a pain doing every time.

I know, just a little convoluted if needing done on many samples. I'm trying to make it as straightforward as possible.

Zero snap might be a problem with samples that need trimming. I guess

Man that's even worse than with the first iMPC! why do they do this?

Yes, I think AudioStretch can do this, too. Really nice app to work with. Reaches the parts others neglect. The reverse control is especially good.

I reloaded audiostretch from the cloud but it exports with silence on both ends and when it imports it doesn't find end points automatically so is a pain doing that manually every time. Not an issue when cutting samples from a larger file.
It also doesn't have open in for Samplr for some reason. Samplr has a bug importing via audiopaste.

  • Sorry for double posts. It told me that my comment will appear once approved? Bugs bugs bugs. I'm going analog!

That audiopaste bug is annoying but you can get around it by tapping on the gear in the upper right corner and then tap Paste at the bottom.

Yes, that's one of the reasons i requested it.

TwistedWave has a zoom down to sample level (each sample gets a 'dot'). In the desktop version it's possible to click'n'drag the dots to get rid clicks. It's also possible to 'smooth' the selection of points etc.

The developer knows how to fix this but the philosophy of the iOS version of Twisted Wave seems to be to keep things simple and 'advanced' features would only make it more complex even if they were hidden by default and enablable in the preferences.

One way to put pressure on Thomas would be to get the 'Free' version and send an email requesting the missing features. I'm one of the few who has ever sent feedback regarding the IOS version.

Where do you mean? In Samplr? I can see no gear in upper right corner? Screenshot?

When you are in the AudioPaste window in Samplr, you'll see the big gray button in the middle--that one is buggy. But if you look in the same window, right under the "Done" button in the upper right corner, there is a gear icon. Tap that. Now tap the paste button at the bottom. That one works reliably for me.

Great question about the gentle pitch shifting; I was musing about this the other day as I was working on a project.

Nice one Luke. Works like a charm. Now I can copy live made loops from loopy into Samplr and play them there. Thanks a bunch man.

I learned that trick in this forum as I was trying to do exactly what you describe from Loopy to Samplr quickly in a live scenario. Wish I didn't have to make that extra tap but it beats the alternatives.

Mmmm, not sure what's happening but while it does paste the file, press back to go back to the main sample menu the app crashes without saving the pasted file. Do you have a workaround for this? @lukesleepwalker

The only IAP I don't have is the HD one. I was wondering if that's the one I need to export in wav? The HD IAP doesn't mention HD export that's why I didn't bother but if it does I much prefer anytune's pitch shifting algorithm as it seems smoother to me than twisted wave (which I just bought). Twisted wave also shifts in .50 increments which can be a bit hit and miss.

Did you buy Anytune pro or the individual IAPs?

  • Ah ok, I can see Anytune+ which answers my question. @TedBPhx

  • Glad to help @supadom
