SXSW Music 2016

Howdy all. SXSW (South By Southwest) is fast approaching and though I am not attending the conference this year, I do hope to make it downtown for the Music Gear Expo. This is a free event and well worth it; last year I met several folks from iOS app vendors which included the incredible guitarist (and really nice chap) Adrian Belew (Flux:FX).

It would be a blast to meet up with other iOS music makers (or devs) at such an event. If anyone is going to SXSW or interested in the gear expo, please let me know.

Details:

Thursday, March 17 | 2:00pm - 6:00pm
Friday, March 18 | 11:00am - 6:00pm
Saturday, March 19 | 11:00am - 6:00pm

WHERE

Austin Convention Center, Exhibit Hall 4, Level 1

HOW TO ATTEND

Open to all badge types. Open to the public with free SXSW Guest Pass (you have to register)

P.S. President Obama is scheduled to speak here in Austin on 3/16, so happily there's no conflict with the Gear Expo which starts on 3/17 (green beer day).

  • I'm interested, counting you that makes 4 of us I know that are in Austin...

    ATX Audiobus peeps; where yat???

Maybe we can get some of the Austin Party Bus peeps to come...

  • Will there be cake?

  • I've been several times. Usually fortunate enough to trade for a Platinum Badge, like I did the last couple of years.

But the last couple of years I've gone... I've sworn I wouldn't go anywhere near that insanity until I was getting paid to be there. ;)

Might be able to do a free gear show... they usually have several kegs freely flowing by around 1pm or so.

  • CalCutta's makin a cake right now... Hmmm...

We'd need edibles none the less... B)

I don't know whether I'll be in town (depends if there's snow falling in Maine :)), but we certainly need to hold an Austin Appland Summit once all the tourists leave....

    Howdy neighbors @Cassetteur @skiphunt --

I didn't realize there were at least 4 of us Audiobussers in the area. @Johnnygoodyear and I met a few months back, and had a wonderful (for me) couple hour conversation covering all things iOS...no, actually we just scratched the surface of all things iOS music related...but it was a great time.

For details, I should be able to go to the expo just about any time. I thought about going on Friday since the expo is open the longest that day...Saturday would be more calm downtown but I fear some vendors may pack up and head home on Friday.

I also like Mr Goodyear's idea for a post SXSW Austin Appland Summit.
