ISem - unusable on Air 2 latest IOS
I finally got the taste of what everyone's been talking about. Glitchfest, stuck notes, latency when driven via midi. Plays nicely standalone but trying to record it or drive it by Xynthesizr within Audiobus is a mess. Let's hope 9.3 sorts it out. Damn
Comments
Have you tried using iSEM as an AU? I'm on 9.2 and it seems to work ok as an AU extension (this is outside of an interface, ANYTHING on 9.2 through an interface is going to be messed up).
No, I've tried to play the notes manually to record in loopy with stuck notes. Now I just used BM2 and it worked like a charm. I'm sooo waiting for BM3, l have a feeling it's gonna be da bomb.
Isem has been like this ever since the AU update, dont think everything is fault of iOS and apple this time. It really needs another update for bug fixing.
This thread made me realise that I've not used iSem standalone since the AU was released.
Something needs to be done about iSEM's startup-time.
Seems to take ages to start up especially when using multiple AU instances on an Air 2...
If there are calculations being done every start-up(the progress bar) those should be cached to speed things up.
Same 'laggy startup' affects iSpark too.
Same here
It's Rolf's start, same
That's why I started this thread!
What is your routing for this? Are you using AUM as well? May want to take AB out of the equation and just do it with AUM, see if that helps.
@CalCutta
AUM totally doesn't rock my boat at the moment. I don't really know what to do with it or how it would improve my workflow. Somehow it just doesn't agree with my brain or maybe I'm just stuck in my old ways.
I just opened it (isem) within BM2 as an IAA generator and drove it with BM2's sequencer while recording it on a parallel audio track. Then I opened it in BM2's audio editor, trimmed the loop and then exported it to audioshare via general pasteboard and then 'open in' Samplr.
Super smooth
This just reminded me how and why I love BM2
Not sure if I'm in a particular state of mind today but somehow isem didn't rock my boat soundwise. I moved onto Sunrizer for slightly better (stereo image wise) pads but...when I loaded up Thor. OMG, this thing sounds sexy!
I was making synth samples for the ebow, arp and looper in Samplr. Amazing.
If you would like to share some Thor patches I would appreciate it. That beast is so huge, I can't even begin.
Unfortunately (or not) I was just going through presets. I don't have as much time for fiddling with synths at the moment. The most I did was to strip off all the effects, mess with oscillator's pitch and maybe tweak filter envelopes.
I'd be using it live if it wasn't for the lack of program change to switch between patches.
You can find some that I have, shared over Dropbox for 30 days.
