iSpark Custom Kits Sample Import – haQ attaQ 125
iSpark is awesome! For me the the best thing with iSpark is the ability to import and layer sounds! This is a tutorial on how to do just that!
I have a lot of drum-machine apps and my most favorite one being Patterning by Olympia noise. However, iSpark by Arturia does something that Patterning doesn’t. iSpark gives us the awesome ability of actually layering up to six sounds for each drum-slot.
For this episode I grabbed an old hard-drive that I haven’t used for ages. On it I found an old folder with sounds that I made/sampled back in 2005. Old sounds yes, but still very useful. Thanks to the layering ability, I now know what to do with these old sounds.

Thx bro. Lotta love for the ispark round here. Just really fun to play with
love ispark too. thanks Jakob for making videos like this, they are always entertaining and very helpful.
does anybody have any ispark drum kits they would like to share?
@sbcfx Same here a LOT of iSpark love!
However, I would love it even more if they added some synthesis into the mix. Drum synthesis together with all of the sample-layering Would make the iSpark almost as powerful as an Elektron machine. =D
@eross Thank you! I'll share whatever kits I make...when I finish them.
Have to agree here, if the promised Modular UI does appear this will become a beat box powerhouse, assuming your particular iPad can handle it anyway
Great video as usual @jakoB_haQ
Thank you!
Jakob has a way of both demystifying difficult concepts as well as decluttering less challenging but still not immediately apparent workflows. Tack så mycket @jakoB_haQ !
Entertaining & informative as always, thanks jakoB !
great vid Jakob...... btw would love for you to interview pierre the Protein de klang dev........probably the most unsung hero of them all!
Thanks for video Jakob .
TIP : You can change the order of apps in " Open In " list , so making iSpark first saves scrolling along each time . see photo ! Scroll to "More" at end of top row to re-arrange list .
@nlog possible occasional bug , iSpark isnt always saving/reloading sample startstop markers correctly.
I loaded a file with 1,2,3,4,5,6 spoken words to test velocity layers & gave each word a startstop marker on a different layer . Velocity switching worked well ( though I would prefer value readouts on Automation page ) , but on reloading the saved project the markers for layer 1 had moved , playing 3 & 4 as photo not 1as saved . Not repeatable but has happened a couple of times .
