ChordPolyPad and Midi Foot Controll

I need a little help/guidance with triggering chords on the Chordpolypad. I am a guitarist who wants to use a MIDI foot Controllor to trigger chords. I failed at programming my KMI 12step and my Irig Blueboard to do this? Does anyone have any tips to do this?

  • I have ChordPolyPad however I have never used MIDI to trigger the chord pads.

There is not a lot of info in the manual about this but it appears you have to send MIDI notes to CPP to trigger the chord pads and you have to go into MIDI set up and pick one of the four settings for Triggering pads from MIDI notes. There are some Bluetooth settings there in MDII setup which may be helpful.

I don't have a KMI 12 step or iRig Blueboard but it appears they will need to be able to send MIDI notes to trigger chord pads and I don't know if they do that as a lot of MIDI controllers only send program changes.
    I hope this helps!

  • Does CPP built in keyboard send midi out via a separate midi channel as the pads do?

I have no idea but I wouldn't think so. I can't see where the CPP keyboard sending MIDI out would help him trigger chords but maybe I don't understand why you're asking.

You can pick a main MIDI channel in now so whichever MIDI controller he wants to use to trigger the chord pads will need to send MIDI on that channel.

  • As far as I recall the keyboard is just for selecting which notes are included in the chords on the pads.

  • Just was comparing between this app and Navichord.

    Firo's great for that.

@jt1218 acc. to manuals 12step note values can be sent and programmed (editor), and cpp pad's midi intake be triggered from 0-127, groups from c1, etc., highlighting the rows nicely.

  • I have been doing this successfully with 12 step and CCP. It's been a while though, so I'm not sure how exactly I set things up but it's definitely possible to trigger ccp chords with 12 step. One thing I had to do to get it working was to try different octaves on the 12 step and the ccp because the pads can't be midi learned unfortunately. I hope this helps.

  • It's really easy to do in CPP just set your midi controller as your midi in and make sure you set up your controller to trigger the correct notes and your all set. There's a setting in CPP that lets you adjust the bite range that triggers the pads and you can set the midi input channel as well.
