dm1 update ... seems to be fine now!
I would not recommend updating, song mode, templates etc. broken, touching the timeline in song mode crashes the app, reinstalling will not fix it
I don't know, I like this app but they seem to have a talent breaking this thing
Comments
it wouldn't be a DM1 update without screwing things up royally...
I can't seem to crash the update, but yep all the songs are screwed up
Would of been nice for Link addition too.
Why do I never learn CHECK THE FORUM FIRST AND FIND OUT IF SOME OTHER BUGGER HAS ALREADY CAUGHT SOME DISEASE BEFORE KISSING THE UPDATE BUTTON.
sIGH.
Addition: Hafta say that I created a new song with three or four new patterns and it seemed (gentle test) to work fine, but the previous files are jumping about all over the place....
Slowly, slowly............ Breathe in......"for the Love!"................ Breathe out....". "for the disappointment!"...... I like DM1, but it is a tad frustrating when the dev boo! Boo!.... It's great sounding, but, etc, etc.
I really appreciate the constant updates but even after a dozen or so (midi)updates and still having sync issues i finally deleted it after the arrival of iSpark. This time forever it seems. It was my first iOS drumbox, impressive and fun but i could never really integrate it into my workflow.
You and me both. Nearly 47 and I still don't practice safe apping
Same here. My first drum machine (ever, actually). Was a great introduction for me, but the constant update problems (massive overdrive/distortion for the longest time on one update), along with so many better/deeper drum apps being released since, has caused me to delete it without a possible return.
The trouble is there's something about its simplicity I can't shake. Maybe the big buttons. Or maybe because s̶h̶e̶ it was my first and so I am mindlessly comfortable with the functionality of it (such as it is)....
I was just using it with one pattern, and tried to have it sync'ed with Loopy's clock. Even when it shows the same tempo, DM1 jumps out ahead and then adjusts to what seems like the correct (or close...hard to tell) tempo. I like a lot of things about it but there's always one thing or another that's really broken.
Whats the deal with dm1 updates? Always breaking more things than they solve.

The next update, Johnny, they're making the big buttons SHINY.
So the consensus is not to update? OK. That'll leave a red dot on the App Store but so be it ...
Did somebody try to re install it, instead of updating it ?
yes, reinstalling does not solve it
I have similar feelings for this app. something about its simplicity makes it special
Agreed, simplicity is key. Not having to think too hard too. DM-1 just works, when it does that is.
Do they never even test their updates? This kind of thing has happened so many times that it's embarrassing.
I don't know if they have a contact email address to inform them of problems, or requests?
Deleted...again
yes the have:
http://fingerlab.net/fingerlab-home/f-a-q
i sent them an email with a link to this thread and i hope they will get here soon.
Didn't see that. Thanks for that.
Of course they do but Fingerlab has been known for (in my experience at least) not really getting back to their customers in a timely manner. This is true for their social media platforms as well. They send you a reply most of the time but not always. If and they do, it may take days, weeks. Listening, helpful? So-so.... but again, this is my experience. DM1 worked more than less all right until about 2 years ago when I first tried it. All the updates since that point just made it worse. I loved it for its simplicity, recorded beats for a few tracks with it, but later DM1 turned out to be a genuine PITA. Deleted it last year and doubt I'll ever do a reinstall. Neither do I need the headache it'd been giving me, nor the the app itself since other devs have come up with way better (again, for me they are way better..) options in the realm of iOS beatmaking & sequencing. Just my 2 or more cents...
Right boys(& ladies).....Just to let you aware that I emailed them this morning, & got a reply this afternoon. I asked them about the problems we are having, also I requested Link. This there response....... Thanks for your email, I have checked the AudioBus forum, we will work on that.
About Ableton Link, yes we will try to implement it..........
There you go. I hope the fix will be sooner, rather than later......... Fingers crossed.
Good for you (and us) for following up. Good for them for answering. Let's hope for the best (as ever).
Update arrived. Songs seem OK now
That's was quick. Fingers crossed.
I still have to leave DFX off my iPad, or I can't load samples from Dropbox into DM1. When I try, it opens DFX, and gives me an authentication error.
So, I've removed DFX from my iPad. Wonder when FunkBox will get link?
