Generative Alternatives to Mixtikl?
Hi,
I've had Mixtikl for several versions. I stopped paying for the upgrades at Mixtikl 6. And, it's pretty much the only "generative" app I have (I think).
Was looking to try out something new, but several of the other recommended generative apps sound too much like video game soundtracks, or "chippy" I guess. As opposed to the more organic sounds that Mixtikl tends to generate.
Still happy with Mixtikl, but have never really warmed to it's interface.
Anyone have favorites in the generative instrument class, with AB and IAA support that produces more of an organic sound like Mixtikl? Or, is it in a class all by itself?

Have you tried Wotja?
Xynthesizr -- internal sounds are ambient, but point it's midi out to...whatever you choose, I've had dcent results, driving Thor after playing with the rules/settings in Xyn..
@BiancaNeve have not tried Wotja, but it's the same dev so I'm thinking it might not be so different. Don't get me wrong, I like the sounds that Mixtikl produces quite a bit. It's just an interface "language" thing. I simply don't get their interface language at all.
@TozBourne Xynthesizr is on my short list along with Oscilab... since they both do other things reportedly well too... in addition to generative music morphing. But, it's just that the demo videos sound like a video game for both of them. Not as "ambient" and organic-sounding like Mixtikl.
I like the sounds that come out of the Brian Eno apps, but they're not AB or IAA. And, I don't feel like I have that much influence on what they produce.
Basically, I'm looking for something that can sound like Mixtikl, with a more intuitive interface. I've tried with Mixtikl for about 4 or 5 iterations and paid upgrades. Just not happening.
NodeBeat
Dot Melody
Runxt Life (little to no updates)
Quincy
Sound Cells (also iffy)
Robotic drums
Arpeggiators like in VirSyn apps
Random composer gets mixed reviews, but goes on sale often.
Gestrument can be cool. Also, different drummer is surprisingly "original" and "musical" with what you can get out of it, right, @funjunkie27?
Wotja is text based put in a few words as the basis of the process then tweak.
Agreed @johnfromberkeley , but it can be chippy depending on what you do with it.
Played with Mixtikl again last night. Hadn't used it in awhile and decided it's still the closest to what I'm looking for. I think forcing myself to learn & understand several new apps lately, kind of helped me with the Mixtikl backend interface.
Although, I think the probability math used in Xynthesizr along with the ability to point it's midi out... make it intriguing.
