Does Garaband remove deleted audio from project after closing it?

SInce I can use the undo button to redo erased audio takes, I was wondering if if all the erased audio in a project stays in the the project, taking up a lot of space, or gets deleted after you close the project?

I do a lot of audio takes that I erase, so Im afraid that my projects will fill up with a lot of unused audio, zapping valuable gb of the HD.

  • All I can shed light on is the fact that GB uses non-destructive editing, so if you are trying to use any of the audio you have recorded and trim that audio - the rest of that recorded audio is still hiding past the edits... which means it's all there. I usually try to record only the parts that I need (when and where I need it) so that I don't have all that extra unheard audio beefing up the file size.

  • @xmortenx - if you erase audio I am practically sure it is completely erased after you close the project. But if you want to be sure: test it: record something only for the purpose of the test, not to short, cause else the test isnt clear. So record it. Close the project. Go to iPad Settings > General > Storage > Manage storage , and see how much GB uses (take a pic) . Go to the project, erase the audio, close the project. Go to Settings, etc, etc, compare and see if GB uses less space now.
