New article on iConnectivity, 9.3, Audiobus, etc.

Been working with Fab over at Audio News Room to put together a quick article on the recent iOS 9.3 impact for iConnectivity devices per the testing I've been doing. Threw in a bit of potted history there too to set the scene. By the very nature of articles like this they are always brief and summarize and more could be said. It is what it is however - hope it's useful

  • Thanks for the great roundup, @MusicInclusive .

  • Yes, thank you

  • Besides the awful red-ish white balance it was a great read.

  • Innerestin, thanks!

  • Good stuff. Thanks @MusicInclusive and @iconnectivity! And I guess apple.

  • A photographer, I have never pretended to be @mschenkel.it

  • And Moog @syrupcore.

And @Sebastian and @Michael - everyone helped - not time to mention everything sadly.

  • Very nice. Thanks!

  • I knew bits and pieces of this but I learned from reading the detailed synopsis. Excellent work, thanks!

  • very helpful. thank you @MusicInclusive !

  • Incidentally, has anyone else had big problems trying to use Bias Amp and Bias FX with iConnectAudio4+?

Tonestack works perfectly through it (I'm using an electric guitar in port 1), whereas Bias comes out as a distorted, noisy mess with no actual proper signal being relayed.

I may be in danger of putting a tin-foil hat on while saying the following, but it would kinda make sense for the developers of Bias not to allow a perfect iOS to Mac performance through an iConnectAudio4+ as it might detract from sales of the desktop version! [/conspiracy]

Anyway, can someone else with an iConnectAudio4+ test this?

  • No problems here with guitar in port 1 (of my iCA4+) and Bias (and IOS 9.3).

  • Loved it!!!

  • Thanks!
I havent used my iconnectmidi4 as sound pass thru for a while due to the glitches.
I wasted hours trying to troubleshoot what turned out to be the issues that you explained so well.

  • Excellent overview of the challenges iOS music producers expeience with iOS updates. Your personal experiences with incorporating the iOS platform to your studio & workflow were also great to read.

I dig hearing about the roads other musicians take in their journey through home recording and songwriting. With my own adoption of iOS/iPad technology as the center of my studio setup I especially love hearing about how others are working with it.

    Great job again brother...be cool.

LOL...You've gotta love that schenk liked the article, but not the photos...on a sound/recording tech site. I think you were just doing some good natured ball busting but either way it was funny.

Interesting. I wonder what settings I have that aren't working, then.

Okay this is it. My point was "besides the BS I type for the sake of typing, the article was brilliant" and if I had the urge to post it, it was because I really mean it.
So, to keep myself off from not-so-nice comments on white balance(which really hurts me bad tho) I'm offering myself as a photo/video editor for ANR.

Ahhhh, don't blame Fab over at ANR @mschenkel.it  - and why not indeed offer the service, maybe he'll appreciate it. But really the "fault" - if there was any - was mine:

1.) Last minute supply of photos; if he wanted to change them at all I didn't give him much time

2.) A choice to leave certain photos exactly the way they were deliberately and on purpose for effect was mine. I am reasonably well-versed in image manipulation (even if I'm not the world's best photographer  ), and some of the photos - esp. the live shots - were left the way they were because that's the way I wanted them to be.

E.g. the hotel shot with all the gear around the iCA4+; it was actually that dark in the hotel room and that's exactly how it all looked. I wanted it to look that way in the picture I sent.

The closeup shot with the iCA4+ was taken with less lighting (I turned some lights off to take the shot) and specifically gave the more red end of the spectrum. I was actually happy with that result as it turned out more as iC themselves have done photo shoots of their gear, which warmth in part was what I was aiming at. Compare that with the very clinical white photo I posted on my MusicInclusive FB page yesterday.

Anyhow - I certainly had no problem with your comment - nor your followup. Offer. Use your skills! :+1:
