  • Cool demo - CMI seemed to be an odd choice, especially as he said he was using custom sounds, but hey, great to see all these apps working together.

  • Impressive! :)

  • Great demo of the apps and Jamstik! Thanks for posting @Ryan.

  • thanks a lot

  • want jamstik now

  • This is inspiring. inspired me to plug my guitar thru Thumbjam's audio to MIDI function and WOW, it actually works awesome even with my acoustic guitar. I think @sonosaurus has been working on that function. Thumbjam strings triggered by my guitar is uncanny it sounds so good. Animoog via MIDI gets a little unwieldy but actually works when you get the settings right.

Anyway, I can confirm that the jamstik idea of playing a variety of instruments with a guitar-like interface is a Barrell of fun. :-). I think they'll sell loads of these especially with a killer promo video like this.

They sucked me in already with kickstarter offer,

  • Chris is a great musician! I've been talking with him for several months now and Jamstik is going to totally ROCK. I'll be doing a ton of vids as soon as I get mine!

  • @DerekBuddemeyer When/if I get one I'll probably go crazy with the videos for it, too. I have so many ideas for it already my head spins. lol

@hmtx I forgot about TJ's ability to do that, I had never tried it before. I'm also going to try that today. Thanks for reminding me! I was looking at SHREDDER as the only real option..

  • There are a few other ios midi guitar apps out there, but if you already have TJ....

I heard a rumor about a standard guitar sized JamStik, which is why I haven't taken the plunge yet. Has anyone else heard anything on that?

  • @Funjunkie27 yes, that does exist. I do not believe that it will be available in the first wave though. :-)

  • Nice....I might be able to resist the first wave then!

  • My next app has low latency guitar to midi conversion, so it's another one to add to the list!

  • When. Lol

  • How low? That's been a problem with every solution I've seen @dreamless. I'll be first in line if it's useable. That would be on the scale of game changer, if it can be pulled off. I'm pulling for ya!

  • It's adjustable between 5-10 ms. It's a classic mono guitar synth though, so no chords. It's got very good tracking though and translates picking dynamics, string bends and vibrato to the synth for quite a unique sound. Playing a mono synth with a guitar has always been underrated IMO. The app SHREDDER by Yonac does this, and it is quite good.

Polyphonic pitch tracking algorithms have started to emerge in the last few years, but they have problems with vibrato and string bends so you lose that "guitar" sound that makes the instrument unique.
