Mobile pod

I see Line 6 mobile pod has had an update!
Any of you tried it yet? All my bits are packed away, so can't play yet!

  • Seemed to be ok. I can't find the shared presets, but I didn't dig very deep. Most of the changes appear to be in the GUI.

I haven't used it in a while. Playing with a tele knockoff and it sounds alright. I'm not partial to the distortion, but I found a few time based effects that are nice. I didn't make it past the "Bs" though.....quite a lot of presets.

Well the interface looks entirely different, unless I missed an update somewhere. And I lost all of my presets, which isn't a big deal to me but beware.

Was stunned/excited to see a 2.0 update. But how can the base install be only 23 MB?!? That almost scares me. I actually thought Mobile POD had some of the best amp modeling on iOS. It wasn't as popular to talk about as the Positive Grid stuff or ToneStack, but it was really solid. So while this new interface seems to address some of the UI issues, I'm a little concerned what happens to the sounds.

@funjunkie27 - I thought a lot of the presets (as with most modeling amps/apps/FX devices) were crap. Too much extreme settings causing clipping and bad audio, as well as inconsistency from patch to patch. But the base amp models and that overdrive pedal they added late in the game were actually pretty good.

  • @StormJH1 - I agree that most of the presets are too extreme. I forgot about the od pedal they added, so I'll give that a try later.

  • I'm pleased that Line 6 hasn't forgotten about Mobile Pod. I prefer the look of real amps though. The new look is a little flat and synth-like, dehumanized in a way. I know it's just a psychological shift, but it's more fun to twist virtual knobs on virtual amps than to be reminded I'm just changing values.

But the software came free with with my $10 purchase of the mobile pod adaptor so I'm not complaining. It's usable and sounds decent.

  • it looks like you can now use it as an insert fx without the in app purchase. Been using it as an fx send in MT Daw, sounds just as good as before so the update has proved to be useful.
