Switch apps with Bluetooth Keyboard
http://9to5mac.com/2015/11/20/ipad-keyboard-shortcuts-cheat-sheet/
With the arrival of IOS 9 it is now possible to switch between the applications through a bluetooth keyboard: ( command+tab ). What is missing to be able to do this through a pedal board midi, like as FCB1010?
Comments
Because it is midi and not keyboard commands. You could either hack a BT keyboard(just saw it yesterday but couldn't find the link[1])or...well...actually I don't think it is possible in iOS to route midi signal to standard keyboard messages. If you have some hacking skills you could try to hack the firmware but the first option is easier.
[1]: it is pretty simple: remove all the buttons you don't need and make a 'command-tab' foot switch. The pedals in the one I saw were made out of cd boxes. I don't actually know how this shortcuts works in iOS but if it resembles Mac/pc behavior you have to figure out how to keep command pressed while inputting multiple times tab, otherwise every time you press cmd+tab you'll be switching the last two apps you have used.
I thought of it, but do not possess the manual skills, nor electronic, nor hacking.
But just being able to switch applications via the keyboard helps a lot.
It was dead simple to do the standard keyboard-to-footswitch hack. Just manual skills with no electronics involved. I really would like to show you the link but couldn't find it out.
Thank you @mschenkel.it ! Maybe some developer will find a way to send this command via midi, or by blueboad of ikmultimedia. Would be only two keys. I think that we are close to that.
this is very cool news. Cheers.
Think you might be over thinking it. Get a BT keyboard and stack some firm clay (or anything) on the cmd and tab keys so that you can step on it without triggering other keys. Put it in the floor. Step! Rejoice!
Thing is, with cmd-tab switching (if it works like the desktop) this sort of setup will probably only work to toggle between two apps. Unless you can figure out a way to make it separate hold-cmd-with-heel-and-tap-toe-on-tab presses.
If you had two big keys could use both feet to do exactly what do the two fingers of the hand on the keyboard. I asked Nick (MidiBridge) if there is any chance to remap the two keys of the blueboard for these shortcuts.
This shortcut switches between multiple applications. Press command, then tab. When you get to the application you want to open, then release.
Nice find @Santosgera !
