Is the figure update worth the Ali hoopla?

People have complained about the banner. From screenshots it appears like it's a short strip on the screen. Is it worth it to update, for the new instruments? Or, will I be wishing that I had stayed behind?

    I say no, but...

I'm fine with it. I don't like the banner, but I don't really notice it much. I'm hoping that it's only a temporary thing at launch, just so users will become aware. Then, maybe they eliminate the banner after learns where it is in the Settings?

Oh, and the new sounds are nice, and I can't complain much about adding in new sounds on a free app. Nice to see that they are still adding to it, even though it's a free app.

Personally didn't think 95% of the new presets were anything special - but nice to have new ones anyways. Don't find the banner at top that intrusive.

  • I find it immensely intrusive to the point where I can barely bring myself to use it anymore which is disheartening for me in a way, since I've made a lot of cool stuff with it. Still debating on deleting it though.

  • The banner is definitely not a good addition. I mean it's for 2 buttons in the corners and the whole app is shrunk down for these. AND they are buttons a lot of us won't ever use.
It's still a good free app.

Am I the only one that gets really annoyed having to swipe through all the presets to find one in particular? I think I've mentioned it before here, but some kind of drop down scroll list would reeeeally help imo. (hold preset for 2 secs to bring up list, or double tap preset, or swipe down or....?)

  • Granted, the banner takes up screen space, but honestly I'm a little shocked at all the foaming at the mouth hatred of it. You would think the app has ceased to function properly the way people carry on. If you liked figure before it's still the same app. With more sounds

  • Stuff like that is distracting when you're already using a smaller screen IMO. Especially since it was a nice simpler interface before.

  • I deleted Figure long before the Ali Baba thing came out. I'd rather see more updates to Thor and ReBirth.

  • I should mention that I'm actually even more disgruntled because I was one of the few earlier adopters of Figure and paid for it. I mean it was only a dollar, but its kinda crappy that they impose updates on an app people had paid for at one point.
