Question about Midi Controller Drumpads
As some of you might know,there is a bug in the Spark LE controller firmware and therefore it's not providing the correct visual feedback on drumpads (the lights do not reflect what's going on in a pattern).But all other lights are just working fine (step sequencer for example).
i got a message from the arturia support and they say they are aware of it but it's VERY hard to fix.
Now i'm asking myself what's going on with all other midi controller with drumpads that provide visual (lights)feedback.I had an MPK Mini before but i can't remember how it was on this unit (rarely used the drumpads) but i assume the visual feedback is working fine with such controller and certain apps like Beathawk,iMPC etc?
Comments
anyone?
@supadom
maybe?
sorry for da bump
I assume you're asking about what happens to the lights when they're pressed or you're talking about apps triggering lights on hardware via midi?
If the former then yes, mpk mini behaves as expected: the light stays on when latched and flashes briefly in unlatched mode.
If the former then I'm out of depth as I didn't even know that was possible.
Pads that light on controllers usually happen via the controller responding to the midi sent from the app. On the Beatstep, that's just the assigned midi notes. Some controllers only respond to sysex or some custom protocol. That might be the case with the spark le, or iSpark might not send MIDI out, I dunno and can't remember respectively.
That's exactly what i meant.So,it should work with other (i even assume all) controller as well.Otherwise it doesn't make much sense anyway (to me),i mean why do you want"blinken"pads if they do not respond to the incoming midi notes?Ok,makes sense in latch mode but that's only a secondary function of (midi)drumpads.
Doesn't matter if the Spark LE controller is using sysex or custom protocol (latter i guess),the point is: to me this function doesn't look like rocket science.
btw,Arturia and Rolf already confirmed it's an issue in the controller firmware.It's frustrating,the hardware is currently collecting dust because of that.I just can't look at it.
thanks@ you both.
