my setup and thoughts. Do you have anything to add?
I'm a guitar player so I use the Focusrite isolo dock to record guitar and bass. I use a mxl 990 mic to record vocals and I use drums live(is there anything better?). My DAW is Auria. I use Bias mp, BiasFX and Jamup. I love the apps Dave Ellesfson rock shop and PocketGK for bass but they do not work with audiobus so I dont use them except for practice. I have found that I can gt the best bass tone with Ampkit. For the best guitar tone I like Bias Amp. Being a metal player I think they have the very best high gain stuff. But if I'm wanting modeling of an engl , for that I prefer amplitube. I would like to know everyone favorite compressor. I have found in this type of area we are limited because like in auria you can only use whats in their own store. I'm currently using PSP old timer compressor. I don't have anything to compare it to. I do feel like i have to max IT out for it to be effective, so im trying to find an alternative. Before I switched to apple I remember having options, but with an ipad i'm finding very few options/alternatives.I'm still new at this and not as mature in this environment yet. Also I guess part of the goal of this post is i'm hoping for suggestions and if i'm missing anything that could add to my situation/setup. So i'm a one man band. I do the drums, vocals, guitar and bass. I did consider getting a midi controller but not sure if it would help in my tunes(plus i cant play the piano) especially because the keyboard/synth apps i have seen are just geared towards trance/techno. I did pay for sample tank and that was a complete waste of money. I'm also considering IK Multimedias mic room(is there a better alternative?).....so yea trying to make s professional recording studio. Have I missed any must have apps that would benefit me? I just thought I would ask you guys since you are so much more experienced than myself.I just want to mqake sure I'm not missing out on any crucial apps or if there is a better app than one i'm already using So please give me any suggestions that you may have and thank you

...get some people to play with, drummer, bass player etc. No amount of trickery will replace the feeling one gets making music with other freaks like you.
In Auria, I love the PSP Microwarmer, which i suppose is more of a limiter than a compressor, but it sounds real nice on guitars, bass, drums, and even vocals. I really like it for rock music. I don't do metal, but I imagine it would great for you.
Tonestack is the other guitar amp sim that gets a lot of mention - and it's on offer right now for the base app ($3/£2) which comes with a small amount of amp/effects. The app sometimes has sales on its IAP packages as well including the "Motherload" bundles, watch out for those. I have the v2 Motherload and I count 5 or 6 compressors in there. I haven't really used them so can't comment on their suitability though. AUM is a useful app for all sorts of reasons - along with AudioShare from the same developer. You'll find lots of posts on this forum about those. If you play acoustic drums, fine, but if you have edrums with a MIDI out, there are some apps like DrumPerfect which will give you different drum kits to record with.
Pro C compressor, and Pro L Limiter from Fabfilter, IAPs in Auria, are wonderful tools, probably the best on iOS. They are the same as they are on the desktop, just rewritten to run on iOS.
For a control surface, I have picked up GeoSynth. The interface works for a guitar player, it's laid out in fourths and "strings." Very easy to understand. I have only used it with Thumbjam so far, where it shines. You might to check out GeoShred as well, same style of interface, a very fun app, but doesn't have midi, but great sounds and versatility.
I'm using the Focusrite dock. I have a Samson MIDI controller it worked using a camera kit but plugged in to the docks usb it wouldn't. Any suggestions.?
The iTrack Dock support page lists a number of compatible and incompatible MIDI devices, neither of which include your Samson but obviously there are devices that don't work. Googling "iTrack dock midi keyboard"' throws up some web pages where people are having issues... I suspect you are in that camp, you'll have to find another way to do it unfortunately.
