Record audio & midi simultaneously

edited June 2013 in General App Discussion

Would appreciate advice on recording midi performance and audio simultaneously onto separate tracks, eg: piano midi & vocal audio. I have the Alesis dock and various apps, inc. Garageband and Meteor multitrack. Garageband doesn't seem allow more than one track recording, and although Meteor suggests multi track in last update, perhaps not audio & midi multi (I have not managed it yet).

I am missing a trick here, or is there another recommended app ?

  • I think that's a limitation of GarageBand, you can record vocal audio and midi using Auria or Multitrack Daw for sure, likely with Meteor and N-track as well.

  • Cubasis is the gold standard for this.

  • Cubasis or Beatmaker 2 for both at the same time. Not Auria, not yet, and not Multitrack DAW - they are audio only. I've used BM2 this way.

  • I do have BM2, so I'll give it a try, although I've never quite got comfortable with the interface. I've also emailed Meteor devs, since it so nearly gives the option of midi&audio in it's new multi mode (the level meters show inputs, but recording only seems to store one of the two).

  • Another option is Music Studio.
