    Arpist is quite good
and I believe it is still free

  • Arpeggionome on iphone is good. Unfortunately it's not AB/IAA, but you can still make it work with MIDI (just takes a little bit of screen-jumping).

  • Get both. Arpist does whole "songs", and appegionome is great for live fiddling.

  • Micro Addictive synth has a great arp too but only works in that app. Wish virsyn would port his arp to the iphone

In fact, it can be quite wonderful with the right sound fonts loaded into bs-16i. Unsurprisingly the most fugue machine-ish you can get on iPhone (same developer, @Alexandernaut)

Arpist WAS good, but has no sound since I don't know when.
    Do you have sound?

  • A dream of mine would be StepPolyArp, Kirnu Cream, and Virsyn's Arp app all ported to iPhone and supporting transport controls between apps.

It's complicated. But once you get how it works, it's amazingly fun.

  • awesome.thanks. yep, I think I might buy it

There are so many tools that can turn a simple synth sound into a rhythmic, soundscape-y, monster, and Kirnu Cream has all of them. I really love StepPolyArp too, because it is playable right from the app. I haven't played with Virsyn's Arp yet, but it looks to be very cool.

    Xynthesizer or Oscilab

I know NOT true ARP but for all intensive purposes, I think it is the best shot,

ARPIST isn't bad and it's free I believe.

Little Midi Machine is finicky but also free.

  • I'm a novice at this stuff, but I tried Arpist out after reading this thread.

It's free, and the IAP upgrade is waived at the moment. Last update was October that removed the IAP. Guessing that's not just temporary?

Anyway, I got it working and figured mostly out fairly quickly.

Seems to offer a great deal of customization and scales to iPad size nicely too.

It's all free now, but is worth paying for I think.

The one thing that turned out to be very obvious, but not intuitive for me... was that to activate the blocks, you just drag your finger over them to activate. To change the beats within each block, you just slide your finger up/down on each block.

What threw me off was the help/guide shows control of the blocks in the "Song Controls" but that must be from an earlier version and the guide wasn't updated.

I like the minimalist/clean design of it too.

  • Magellan Jr is great too!

My wife is more complicated than Cream, and I love her. And I love Kirnu too.
