I’ve still yet to understand or even experience any of this AU stuff, until the technology matures enough to run on my iPad 2. What difference does it make to the synth? Is it the same user interface, features etc, or different (or better)?

I remember someone wrote somewhere on this forum that he's running the Blamsoft apps on an iPad 2 with no problems.

    here, 7th from the top:

Well, I’ve already got iSem, but how do I make it be an AU as opposed to normal?

Load it as an AU in one of the AU host apps.

    @u0421793

    • You need to have an AU capable host like AUM to run it as an AU.
    • Main advantage: you can run more than one instance at a time! Layer 'em up, or use AUM's keyboard split to have different patches for the bass and melody. Stuff like that ...
  • Don't forget iSem and MidiSteps ;)

    It's heaven.

    @u0421793 what they said + iOS 9.

  • What's midisteps, never heard of it.

  • Would be cheap at twice the price. One of best iOS synths for sure

  • I wonder, how many of you just recently bought this synth on account of this thread? Just wondering.....

I'm very close! So many synths, so little time.

I think sunrizer still rules for polyphonic stuff
Fastest interface, best modulation- I pick morph over mod matrix any day
Just needs an update to get link
But I am biased I love the tools I am involved in, I wouldn't waste any time with them if I thought they weren't great.

Isem does not sound anything like a sem
Listen to a real sem here
Fuck me, can u hear those leads, that's a sem!
U can still hear it through the crappy MP3

Not it. Was one of my first ios synths

  • Heres a screenshot of isem as an au in garageband on an iPad Pro. You have access to all functions and presets.
Bit strange having the faders horizontally, seems logical to have them vertical but it's pretty amazing.
    Hope this helps.

  • I forgot to add there is a second visualisation mode where isem appears the same as the standalone app, with all rotary knobs working. Both modes will scroll horizontally using the grab bars through all of their pages.
I took a screenshot but apparently it's too big to upload, very odd, the last one did?
    Maybe someone else can assist.

  • I don't see what you're referring to @Captaintitanic , but I also didn't realize the bar to resize AUs. Might be well known, but I've missed it. Maybe others have as well...

  • I gave in! Sold. If it goes on special now, oh well, gonna enjoy it with AUM!!!

I wonder if the tempo of iSem syncs with AUM tempo?

I think it sounds plenty like a sem. It doesn't sound as jaw dropping as a (rare) well working sem 8 all programmed up but it sounds like a sem. To get that not-quite-right-but-so-perfect sound of a sem 8 you have to use the voice programmer. Again, not going to be a sem 8 but it definitely has all of the SEM characteristics. And doesn't cost $8000. And always works. And tracks the keyboard well. And responds to MIDI. And supports presets. And now we can have more than one going at a time! SEM-32 anyone?

I don't think arturias softsynths are state of the art.
You can do much better sounding virtual analog stuff now.
Hear what NI, Roland, u-he, Beepstreet are doing ...
That's the hot shit, Arturias stuff is meh in comparison.

  • Are those you mentioned available on IOS? That would be awesome!

  • I posted in this thread earlier today.

Well tonight, I spent 2 hours on Tera.

I think that Tera may actually be a better overall synth by a hair.

Plus the modulation matrix and paradigm are out of this world.

OP, what type of music are you using this for?

Jesus äh dagger is coming to iOS soon.

    Thx @giku_beepstreet

  • Tera is awesome, but it requires endless scrolling and is much more complex to program. iSEM is limited, but a breeze to program. "Better" can be a hard thing to pin down.

No, but in another thread, @j_liljedahl got in touch with iSEM's developer and confirmed sync to AU host will be fixed in the next update.

  • Pure Awe!!!! Had two instances of iSem running in AUM along with Drumperfect Pro, and wow!!!! This Synth is awesome !!!! So glad I bought this baby, can't believe I put it off for so long!
If you're on the fence, it is so worth it!!!

Particular patches that inspired your awe or were they things you'd fiddled up yourself?

Pleased to hear an update is planned!! :-)

  • Had an Arp playing background and a pad and it was so awesome to be able to resize the UI of iSem right in AUM, it was just incredible. But the sounds and the realistic drums of DPP just made my jaw drop!
