A little scary, frankly

and expensive: $1,19900
What a joke! With the focusrite iTrack dock and some knowledge about software you can do everything that does and more. Over priced sons of bitches getting away with robbing everyone....
I still use protools everyday lol.
And nowhere in the copy is there mention of something like "use native iOS music apps and instruments on your session". There isn't anything that shows that having an iPad docked to a ProTools surface will get you anything more than use of AVID's own touch screen app FOR USE only with this controller that starts at over a G note.
I have taken to using iOS as my "recording format" of choice, very rarely have I or do I plan on importing tracks from my Auria DAW sessions into ProTools, or any other PC DAW. I feel as though, especially with Auria Pro, AudioBus and now AUM in the mix, the iOS recording option is at parity with PC/Mac based DAW's. It helps to have some experience and background recording, but tech wise I think it's close.
We're not going to have 10 plugins on 32 tracks or some of the more complex routing options but I feel that's probably a good thing. There was a discussion here a bit ago about some limitations being a good thing for creativity. Any skilled EDM, Pop, Dubstep, rock, singer-songwriter, etc. producer/musician could make a track in iOS the same quality that a computer DAW could do.
If iOS & computer DAW's are melded in some creative ways that's cool, but this is just a stroke job.
Shut up and take my money! 7/15/16 can't get here fast enough! Let's see $1199 + $599 for Pro Tools, so I could get all of that for nearly $1800 OR spend $199 and get Logic Pro X and download the free Logic Remote app. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/logic-remote/id638394624?mt=8
Hmmm, decisions decisions
@Dham or I can download duet display and have all the functionality of a control surface. Pair that with mobile mouse and it is no contest. Mobile mouse in itself is great.
